The rest of my buys from the last few weeks, i've grown fonder of 'Mot' after viewing it late night at a mates, the rest were kinda impulse type pick-ups, 'Fright night' was a £2 bargain from CEX.

It's a fantastic series, be warned theres a LOT of swearing (if your going to stick it on in company) but by series 3 you'll be cursing HBO for cancelling it. For me its second only to THE WIRE in terms of their best series.

Deadwood is a brilliant TV show and one I found to be highly addictive. As with other HBO television series, it's extremely 'sweary' and is brilliantly written, directed and acted.

I was in hospital for a week or so a couple of years ago and took the complete box set with me to watch on my laptop (with headphones) and probably watched five or six hours each evening/night, and finished the lot by the time I was discharged!

I picked it up as a blind buy as well and don't regret it one bit – you shouldn't either.

Their prices are very good with the sale; 16 quid each :) I hope I enjoy WAGES OF FEAR, I absolutely loved J. Lee Thompson's ICE COLD IN ALEX and hear the 2 films are quite similar, on the surface at least. I was a little underwhelmed with Clouzot's LES DIABOLIQUES, although I think my expectations were a bit too high prior to watching.

Feels like it's been a while since I posted. A lot of this stuff was purchased in sales (Zavvi's Mega Monday, Arrow £5 promo, etc), some I really should have purchased much sooner (The Idiot). Very few genre related stuff, trying to last out those light summer nights with some slightly more highbrow content. Il Grido was a complete blind buy based on that amazing cover.

It'll be a weekend well spent! The runtime of my Ultimate Edition is just over 30 hours, so a little over 10 hours a season and should be fairly easy to do over three days without emerging sleep deprived on Monday morning!

I'll stick with the 2-D one as, even though the film is visually stunning, I didn't feel the 'extra dimension' added anything to the overall experience and I closed one eye for a couple of minutes here and there throughout the film to see what it was like in 2-D and didn't see any tangible difference.

Even so, I don't have a Blu-ray player capable of playing BDs with 3-D content (apart from anaglyph 3-D), nor a 3-D plasma screen!

I suggest you try to pick up the original version of THX 1138 (only available on vhs/ld) as well. ;)

bdc 13th July 2012 07:07 PM

Ordered some oop HK IVL Shaw dvd's from a webshop at "normal" price and they shipped. :)

I'm talking about Hex After Hex (Hex was also available, the other sequel was not) and Bamboo House of Dolls! :woot:

Don't know if the Hex sequel is any good btw but for a decent price I decided to give it a try.

I think they are the original versions with the original names and improved CG effects. To be honest, I'm not keen on Star Wars, so I may keep them as an investment and sell them on eBay for as much as I can get!

"The Firm" and "The Firm".

Sorry, been a bit lax recently - not been that well of late.

Also, I already put Attenberg in a previous pic! Sorry. Boss film though and it makes it an even square!

It's the Criterion Collection version.

Someone nicked my DVD so I figured if you're going to upgrade, upgrade all the way! It's a fave film of mine.

I really liked it. A slightly sleazy drive-in noir centred on a potent, well drawn femme fatale. Also, Stockport's own glamourpuss Sabrina always makes me laugh!
