Sainsburies. £12.99. Bought some tea bags too.
They had Total Recall, Flash Gordon and Stargate Br's in there at £5 a pop. Maybe tomorrow...

Stephen@Cult Labs 15th January 2013 07:04 PM

Just checked my bank account after booking Django Unchained tickets... won't be buying any more films until payday. :( *

Nice.....At last Alien packaging I'm happy with.
Love these films.
Alien 3,especially in the extended cut is so underrated.

So you like colorful aliens on your covers?
Btw the extended cut of Alien 3 is excellent!!!!!

antmumford 15th January 2013 09:49 PM

This Alien talk reminds me that I still need to see the directors/extended cuts. Must do another film marathon with them after recently finishing the Harry Potter one, I have such varied taste in films ;)

Nope, mate you'd be flabbergasted at the amount of "classics" I've yet to see.

Paul@TheOverlook 15th January 2013 10:52 PM

Theatrical cuts of Alien and Aliens are far superior to the longer versions in my opinion. I've still not seen the longer versions of the third and fourth films.

I think we must have! Thing is, I'm more than happy with the transfer, and to me that's all that matters. To others it might be highly imperfect and I have no problem with that either. But, for me, I thought it looked great. :)

Do you guys use protective slips for your steelbooks? I just received a pack of 10 from the UK - clear plastic that covers the top, bottom, front and back. They arrive flat, you just fold along the creases and away you go. Really nice fit.
There was also one in the pack that fits top loading slipcovers - covers the front, back, edges and bottom. You can remove the amaray case without taking the slip out of the protection. Test fitted on my 'Don't Look Now' slip, perfect fit.
Sorry if this has been covered before.
Lincoln.

J Harker 16th January 2013 07:58 AM

Can't say I've ever seen these myself. Not a bad idea though. Particularly for slipcases.

The full steelbook version as well with the lovely book!

J Harker 16th January 2013 08:16 AM

I was wondering, with Play.com shutting doors soon did you guys have any exclusives you wanted to pick up while you still can? If so what? Curiosity and to see if there's anything I wasnt aware off? They do have a lot of exclusive steelbooks.

I would really like the Scott Pilgrim one, but it's too much fuss, as they don't ship to Australia.

I hope HMV's website stays up, as I've always wanted their Dark Shadows, Cabin in The Woods and Touch Of Evil steelbooks, but they're too expensive!!

Saw these in HMV's Blue Cross sale the other day but, being cautious, I went with Amazon who had price-matched them. Tokyo Story was £7.50 and is back up to £10 now so it was a case of 'right place right time'

I didn't think the Touch of Evil steelbook was exclusive to HMV?

Yeah, it is

J Harker 16th January 2013 08:59 AM

No you're right it is exclusive, i didn't realise that. The website however is already shut down. I thought it was weird they had so many touch of evil steelbooks in one store. They were flogging them all off at £15 a few weeks back, only days after I paid £20 for the thing!
The Dark Shadows steely was in there blue cross sale yesterday. But at £28 it weren't happening. Even with the 25% off it was still expensive as far as I was concerned.

Oh wow :( Reading that notice I completely forgot about Fopp. Never had one near me, but I always checked one out if I was in London, as it had some great deals and lots of OOP stock.

Not poped it in yet as i'm heading back to college now, but I expect the mini-guns scene to at least blow one ear drum*!

I watched it last night (rented from Lovefilm) and had to watch it with my amp turned down a bit lower than usual simply because the film is so damn loud and didn't want to piss off the entire street!

Ha, small world. And to think we've both been posting here a while and not noticed before.
Worthing is a sh!te hole, full of young chavy Mums and druggy skanks. It makes me cringe when I pop into town to rummage in CEX. I'm normally in and out as quick as I can be.

EDIT: Sorry, listen to me ranting like I'm above it all. Some parts are beautiful, I just unfortunately don't live in one of those parts

How's about we all chip in, buy a crew's liner for us and our family and forget this whole bloody country even exists! Nah!

demonknight 16th January 2013 12:18 PM

Beast in heat and Black Christmas, the original, both arrived
this morning. Is Cabin in the woods on bluray worth picking up?

demonknight 16th January 2013 12:27 PM

I'm more than happy too with the dvd transfer of
Creepshow as opposed to the bluray transfer.

I'd say yes definitely, I've had it since release date last year and have watched it a few times already, great film. Make sure you buy it brand new though, the first batch had a faulty disc that was replaced, free of charge, without having to send in the old disc or even asking for a replacement, Arrow should take note!

Thanks for that Rik.
