And make sure you pick up Hellraiser, it looks absolutely stunning on Blu-ray - you can even see shadows moving in the shadows, the detail is that good!! It's superb. One of the best HD transfers I've ever seen - and you can't go wrong for £6.99!

Already waiting in the wings mate!;)

I LOVE The Sect. A lot. A real lot. A...LOT. Great atmosphere.

I also like Just Before Dawn - one of my favourite slashers, and Visiting Hours is a nasty, unpleasant piece of work...it's great! Not a brilliant film, but a good watch.

Oh, did I mention that I like The Sect?

I had a bumper bonus load of delivery topday too!

My package from Daemonia also:

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (beautiful steel case!!!)
A Chinese Ghost Story
He Knows You're Alone (woohoo! Wanted to see this for ages!)

Thanks a lot D!

Also, Mountain Of The Cannibal God arrived as did the Universal Dracula set and Danger Diabolik.

Nice!

Nice indeed! Great buys mate.

"Star Trek" - 2009

"Son of Frankenstein" - Upgrade from VHS dupe

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 19th November 2009 06:00 PM

Picked up EVIL DEAD II on Blu-Ray today.:woot:

pedromonkey 19th November 2009 06:12 PM

I aboslutely hated the new STAR TREK, i just did not like it, the ignored almost 40 years of star trek. Karl Urban as bones was good though, and why was kirk a flipping EMO space bitch.

Well not really. The timeline was changed, so things changed.
Other than that though, I thought it did a great and clever job of 'doing' the original "Star Trek", but also mutating things so it can take off in its own direction.

I watched it after watching seasons 1&2 of the TV show and all the 'original' films...and I thought it worked.

Rubbish engine room aside!

vincenzo 19th November 2009 11:00 PM

I thought Star Trek was great fun. Didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did.

gag 19th November 2009 11:20 PM

Just bought the 2disc version of the brood
the 1 with both versions the uk uncut and the american r version
Any 1 any idea if they vary i heard they r both slightly dif..i dont know (im not reffering cuts in the film)

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 19th November 2009 11:35 PM

I prefer the uk uncut version.

vincenzo 19th November 2009 11:49 PM

Disc 1 (the UK Version) is the R-rated cinema print. Disc 2 (the US version) is the longer unrated print.

The main differences (around 30 secs) are a more explicit 'cub-licking' scene, additional blows during the mallet murder, and more shots of the dead Susan Hogan.

I prefer the unrated print too.

42ndStreetFreak 19th November 2009 11:59 PM

It also adds more to the finale 'sack eating' sequence.

Sadly the quality is poorer on the uncut version.

Philleh 20th November 2009 07:31 AM

Picked up Day of the Dead - remake
And Ong Bak for the 3rd time, as people keep nicking it!!

Gojirosan 20th November 2009 11:07 AM

Seven Death's In The Cat's Eye and Lemora arrived.

The case for Lemora was quite crushed and broken - worst postal damage I've had to a DVD package. :(

The disk and leaflet and even the sleeve seem fine thankfully. I wish some places would use a bit of padding instead of just sticky vaccuum sealed plastic. :mad2:

pedromonkey 20th November 2009 11:14 AM

Stephen@Cult Labs 20th November 2009 02:35 PM

Just recieved Maniac Cop 3 from ebay for £2.79.Wasn't even aware that it had been released on dvd in the UK.Apparently an unrated version was relesed on vhs in america but it's never been released on dvd

Philleh 20th November 2009 02:39 PM

Ooh, that could be a glorified bootleg.

Let us know how it turns out dude! :)

Stephen@Cult Labs 20th November 2009 02:43 PM

I don't think it's a bootleg.I've never heard of Boulevard releasing any bootlegs before.Looks like it's been licensed from First Look (the U.S dvd distributors).A quick check tells me it was submited to the BBFC in april this year.I think it's legit.

Philleh 20th November 2009 02:50 PM

Ah right, I remember Boulevard's name getting brought up awhile back due to some of their releases. I hope it's legit, as it's a decent enough film! I have a soft spot for it! :)

Well, Bill Lustig films in general touch my soul.

Pete 20th November 2009 02:54 PM

The BBFC site says it is Widescreen.

I've seen Boulevards name on the side of many hollywood movies relased on the PSP.

pedromonkey 20th November 2009 02:56 PM

boulevard have released some decent films with pretty good picture quality, i picked up their copy of final countdown a few years back and it was 16:9 widescreen. awesome film.

Yeah it's widescreen. It seems a little strange that it's hard to find.I've only found it on Amazon and Ebay.Hmmmmmm

Pete 20th November 2009 03:39 PM

Is it non anamorphic or 16x9?

It is strange that it's so hard to come by, i've never seen it any shops.

Stephen@Cult Labs 20th November 2009 03:42 PM

it's 16x9,just checked.

Pete 20th November 2009 03:47 PM

I must buy a copy.

I bet hardly anyone knows of that release. Boulevard would have made some decent sales, if they bothered to advertise it.

Stephen@Cult Labs 20th November 2009 03:57 PM

It's a pity that the Medusa release of Maniac Cop 2 is cut.Part 2 needs a special edition.

I'd go for ebay. The one through Amazon is £10 plus p&p

bdc 20th November 2009 08:06 PM

Zeder (20th Century Fox,R2)
I 3 volti del terrore aka The Three Faces of Terror (Pulp Video,R2)
Let the Right One In (Living Colour Entertainment,R2)

Gojirosan 20th November 2009 09:50 PM

Picked up a couple of Boulevard reissues I found unexpectedly in Home Bargain whilst doing some grocery shopping!

Pin (which I've never seen)
The House On Sorority Row (which I love!)

99p each!

Edit: just checked, The House On Sorority Row is a whole new version to the UK, not a reissue as it's anamorphic and a better print than the Hollywood release. The artwork is vastly better too. VERY pleased. :)

Pin is a straight port of the Metrodome release, but is now an 18 rather than a 15 for some reason...

pedromonkey 20th November 2009 11:16 PM

that is the wierdest thing ever, i also picked up house on sorority row, in home bargains today, i already have pin, but also got Mcbain staring chris walken. cheap as chips, 99p, brand new and sealed. that's why they call it home bargains i guess

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 21st November 2009 12:15 AM

Tonight I watched the following;

RAMBO FIRST BLOOD PART II-
The transfer wasn't a patch on FIRST BLOOD,so imo,it's not worth upgrading.

THE MATRIX-
Absolutely stunning pic and sound. This boxset is going quite cheap at the moment, and is DEFINETLY worth the switch for fans.....

I'm gonna get round to watching some horror soon....:eyebrows:
