These two just arrived, no mentioned of Region Code on the back, but listings suggest they're both Region Free

I have them both and they are region free – I played them both on my PS3.

I thought so, just seems strange that there's no symbols on the back. Am I right in thinking these are the only 2 Redemption BD's that aren't locked?

Most of them aren't region coded – all the Jean Rollin discs are region free and I think the only ones which are locked are the Mario Bava releases.

Ah right, I knew the Bava's were and just assumed the others were too, cheers Nos

I'll have a look through all of them and tell you which ones are region locked. Back in a few minutes!

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 3rd April 2013 01:51 PM

Of those in the Redemption series (those with numbers on the spines), only these are Region A:

The Blood Beast Terror
Burke & Hare
Hatchet for the Honeymoon

MovieTymeCult, first thing I thought when I peeled off those stickers was "I wonder if Hawk has copyright on these?"

Robocop and Predator 2 Bluray Steelbooks arrived this morning :woot:

Demdike@Cult Labs 3rd April 2013 03:38 PM

I don't know about anyone else but i don't notice this or the What Have You Seen? threads since the name change. Because it says Blu-ray in the title they never register.

I don't know why What Have You Bought Recently? and What Have You Seen Recently? weren't good enough?

I think the idea was to streamline the various threads, kinda tidy things up a bit. I agree though, it was fine as it was IMO

They were 3 though weren't there? ''What have you purchased recently?'', ''what have you seen or purchased on bluray recently?'', and ''what have you seen recently?'' so if you had either watched or purchased a film on bluray recently it could go in one of two threads which is a bit messy. Makes sense to just have a general ''what have you purchase?'' and a general ''what have you seen?'' thread to me.

That's not such a bad idea as shortening the thread titles might make them a little less 'convoluted'.

We did merge the two 'purchased' threads as it seemed a little pointless to have one as general and another one for Blu-ray.

What's the verdict mate? Are there extras on the discs?
Was well surprised to see a selection of new steelbooks in stock in HMV this afternoon. None. Of them list any extras though. Puts me off if they're bare bones.

No extras I'm afraid. All you get is the movies.
Haven't had a chance to check out the discs yet.

J Harker 3rd April 2013 08:59 PM

As I suspected. Sainsburies have Predator 2 listed as having quite a few features but I was dubious seeing as none of the other steelies seem to.

I've seen The Shrine. I'm going to do a review in detail tomorrow on here.

But in short i loved it.

Linbro 3rd April 2013 10:17 PM

Sounds promising. I ordered the German BD the other day - will give it a spin as soon as it arrives.

It references a lot of well known films, yet has an atmosphere all of its own.

Hope you like it Linbro. :)

After consulting with the other moderators, I've renamed the threads. Hopefully this will be easy to get used to and there won't be any confusion!

but that wouldn't include TV shows. How about what watchable media have you purchased recently? nah It's fine, I won't be showing you clothes, jewellery, make-up, etc.

Ah, but then we'd need a separate thread for tv shows.

That's a good idea, but it takes a lot of money to buy a film!

Doesn't have to be just films, TV shows are more than welcome here.

I would but only if I made it myself and then only if there was a "What Have You Baked Recently?" thread.
