See i was finding crime without gangster films hard. Cops and Robbers even with gangster films is even harder. I've got 5.

But if the topic is now Cops and Robbers half of those films don't have any robbery. The French Connection for instance is about drug smugglers. Shawshank? Both Andy and Red are in for murder and there's no cops in it. Or am i being way too literal?

I suppose you'd have to be literal and strict to get down to only 10 films; I also started a list before the topic was confined to 'cops and robbers', so it will now need to change.

Several noir listed too. So yes you really have to re-evaluate things.

I know I'm cheating a bit with two trilogies, but this is a list of 10 which has police and at least one robbery:

The Godfather trilogy
The Infernal Affairs trilogy
Goodfellas
Reservoir Dogs
Heat
The Ladykillers
Once Upon A Time In America
Dog Day Afternoon
The Usual Suspects
The Lavender Hill Mob

Nordy, you'll be pleased to know i'm keeping my list to conventional cops n' robbers films.

No noir, no sci-fi, no giallo, no gangsters.

Unlike the cool kids on here, my collection is so broad i enjoy and own lots of films from every genre and don't limit myself to horror.

I always find it quite amusing, worrying, horrifying, (add or delete words here), when a subject is brought up and people don't know ten or like ten from said subject.

I'm not keen on the current wave of superhero films but i'd love to do a top ten to see how wildly different my list would be in comparison to others.
