Only one i've seen is Hellgate. I only class it as a guilty pleasure because around here everyone seems to hate it. I think its great though.

I can keep going...

Now if The Lost Boys showed up on Dem or B_Es lists I'd be shocked I mean even if discussing the failings of the worlds economy they would some how link it to the release of the Lost Boys the hatred runs that deep now that would be a guilty pleasure

Like Hellgate its only on my list because of how it seems to be viewed around here. Obviously its vastly superior to Hellgate which is an admittedly trashy but fun flick.

Admittedly I'm struggling a little with this as it comes down to people's perception of the film's in question. What someone might perceive as being a 'guilty pleasure' someone else will simply see as a 'pleasure'. I'm finding it hard to list films that I feel guilty about enjoying (there are none really), although as Mr Harker has inferred, it may be a case of listing films that folks around these parts may see as a little bizarre me liking.

I do like this week's list idea though and I'm sure it will produce some interesting lists.

I agree with you on this, my list for example, I don't actually feel guilty in enjoying any of those films, but I know they're not 'good' films if that makes any sense?

As I've already said Justin. 9 of the films on your list i consider genuine classics. Although I'm aware Pearl Harbour doesn't have the best rep.

  • Dirty Dancing
  • The Fifth Element
  • Grease 2
  • Masters Of The Universe
  • National Lampoon's European Vacation
  • Pearl Harbor
  • Point Break
  • Resident Evil
  • Starship Troopers
  • Weird Science
8 of those i really wouldn't consider as guilty pleasures.
How is a film based on a Heinlein classic a guilty pleasure?

Just because the source material is good doesn't make Paul Verhoeven any less of a hack
