That's a really good point. I didn't mention Paul Schrader's film because it has been about a decade since I saw it and didn't feel comfortable putting it in any list with films I've seen more recently and know I like.

Top ten remakes.

The best remakes are when they take the originals and take a slightly different direction.

The Thing (Carpenter)
Dawn Of The Dead
King Kong (too long as usual for PJ, but mostly really good except for the dinosaur stampede)
The Fly
Little Shop Of Horrors
Invasion Of The Body Snatchers
The Blob
Cat People
Mad Love (love this Peter Lorre film, apparently a remake of Hands of Orlac)

Day Of The Dead ( absolutely my most hated remake ever)
The Haunting
Godzilla (98)
Diabolique
Day The Earth Stood Still
Clash Of The Titans
Carnival Of Souls
Black Xmas

Leaving horror for a week, this weeks subject is

Martial Arts Movies.

Hong Kong, Shaw Brothers, Jackie Chan, JCVD, Stephen Chow, as long as it's a martial arts movie... Go for it!

I don't think many of their films will feature on my list, although Under Siege has always been a guilty pleasure. JCVD is a film I enjoyed very much, but don't think it qualifies as a martial arts movie.
