When I wrote the post, I was thinking characters, so Pinhead, Jason, Freddy, Michael Myers, Leatherface, Hannibal Lecter, Dracula, Dr Frankenstein, Predator etc., but it might be more interesting if you could identify the particular portrayal (through actor and film) of that character which is your favourite.

As you alluded to, your favourite Jason Voorhees might be very different to someone else's – do you like the cloth sack or the hockey mask, the first iterations or Kane Hodder? Do you like Christopher Lee's portrayal of Dracula more than Max Shreck's Count Orlok, or Klaus Kinski's vampire Count? With that in mind, specifying the actor and film might be more helpful and show how diverse opinion can be.

How about a top ten of Hammer actresses/ actors who appeared in their films sometime.

Have we done a general top ten horror stars?

And i still think we should do a top ten animation film.


Above was my post, i meant film stars. (as in horror actors/ actresses)
Ie Karloff, Steele , Lorre, Bradley, Asia Argento and the like.

But i can do this too.

Horror Icons

John Kramer. Saw 1-3.
A man testing others to see if they can abide by game rules but also adding in some mind games by testing their will to save or kill.

Nosferatu 1979.
This is more focused on Klaus Kinski manacing creepy performance, the way he looks, talks and moves and able to not blink for long period of time.

Jack Torrance. The Shinning 1980.
A somewhat happy family man locked away in a hotel during winter, with the haunted past of the hotel, is it the sprits or cabin fever that slowly turns him homicidal.

Prof Van Helsing. Dracula A.D 1972.
Peter Cushing's performance through out the Dracula franchise was based in the 18th centuary, this one is in modern day where he tries to convince people that Dracula is real and still be able to put up a fight.

Ellen Ripley. Alien
A worker on board a spaceship takes on a alien with no military background and high tech weapons and shows that women can be as tough as men.

Mr Striker. Donald Sutherland (Salem's Lot 2004)
A new guy in town persona, charming, friendly outlook but also has a dark side especially being a vampire guardian.

Gregory Wolfe. Harlequin
A stranger who believes he has mystic powers to heal but is able to influence those around him. Is he a healer or someone dangerous. Robert Powell's performance is dark and menacing.

Frederick Loren. House on haunted hill (1959)
A millionaire hosts a party for strangers in a haunted house hoping to bump off his wife and her lover and blame ghosts. The perfect set up for a man to kill his wife and blame something that may be real or not.

Proteus IV. Demon Seed.
This more like playing god with artificial intelligence that wants to be human by any means necessary and Robert Vaughn's voice as the computer which can be very manipulative.

Jennifer. I spit on your grave. 1978.
A woman seeking solitude in the woods is gang raped and left for dead recovers and does what any woman would do and seek revenge in more than one brutal way.
