My suspicion is VCI have their own master. They did release it on DVD a couple of times after all.

The French Wildside BD also sourced from Italy and got the compromised AR version.

I think VCI had their dvd out at the same time at BU, so I wonder if they managed to license it thru a US distributor instead of the Italian distributor? Seems there are loopholes and maybe this is how it's being done? They also said they'll make sure the whole "Right; bring in the perverts!" line is complete.

I don't mean hoodwinked as in ripped off, because you're right, it's completely the consumers choice, I mean "misinformed" regarding what was available. But it's all speculation on my part, as well as everybody elses unless VCI (a) come up with a top notch print, and (b) ever state where they got it from.

The old VCI dvd of bird was in 2:0 widecreen, My buddy still has his disc and we checked. They were on of the first companies to issue it on disc. Certainly anywhere in North america or britain.

Yep, maybe it's a territory issue... but it also leads to the question why a company couldn't arrange to release BU discs in U.K./EUROPE, even if BU can't be arsed, it's all good money in the bank no matter which country or label it comes from.

Not sure why it would be a territory issue, as Arrow had already licensed the film for the UK. Does the license also stipulate how and where you can source the transfer from? Arrow were able to share the City of the Living Dead transfer, so I don't think territory is an issue.

Unfortunately the French BD of this film ain't Cohen's cult classic.
