Default Fantacide

I have the directors cut of FANTACIDE.
The first releae was about 2 hours long and the directors cut is shortened.
Not cut/censored of course but Shane Mather decided to shorten scenes that were too long in the first place.
All gore and violence intact.
Well done to Dean Mather for the sfx, they were excellent for a low budget Brit horror.
Someone said the gore was not OTT. I disagree, and glad it was.
The film would naturally be heavily cut if submitted to the dictators at the BBFC, but I can't see it happening for obvious reasons. If it was releaed some years ago FANTACIDE would be banned.
Yes, it has its homophobic/racist overtones, but if you are offended, naturally don't watch!
**** political correctness.
I think FANTACIDE is a great horror with some comedic scenes, and sometimes Pythonesque but extreme.
All credit to all involved in making a great gory, OTT horror film.

ive just watched it and loved most of it, the gore was great , the story was interesting and most parts were really funny but i do think the racism should be toned down a bit! it seemed that every character was racist in the film.

i agree with "**** political correctness" but i dont agree with full on racism!

shane mather signed my dvd too which was cool of him

2001 maniacs Quite enjoyed this. Kinda had the same feel as the original and the gore was decent enough. I always enjoy watching Robert Englund

I thought 2001 Maniacs was ok but it fizzled out towards the end.

The Being - Silly but nun low budget monster movie with Martin Landau and Jose Ferrer with some great gore effects 7/10

I just watched Going to Peices The rise and fall of the slaser film. Its a great doc there are so many of the late 70's early 80's films I either want to revisit or see for the first time after watching it. I think Maniac will be the first on the list anyone got a suggstion for the best dvd (I doudt its out on BR yet) version?

Both the AWE and Blue Underground releases are pretty identical - and both are hard to beat. Both have DTS ES, both are anamorphic, and they both share the same extras (more or less). The main differences are that the AWE is a 2 Disc, while BU's is a one disc, plus I think BU's is closed captioned THX enhanced while AWE's is not - but then again AWE's release has the benefit of being PAL ! I couldn't decide between the two... so have both!

If I had to make a choice I'd say the BU... mainly because you could probably find it cheaper than the AWE version. BU will more than likely release it on Blu eventually, though.

2001 MANIACS is a great horror comedy, and much better than a lot of other US so-called horror films.
I have GOING TO PIECES on the UKR2 3xdisc THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT.
An excellent horror documentary. One of the best.
I have the R1 Anchor Bay dvd of MANIAC.
It's a great and sleazy horror except the dumb ending.
Oh what the hell, at least it's UNCUT!

Don't Go In The House has an almost identical ending.
