Honeymoon Horror

Amateurish slasher in every way. Even as a lover of cheese it was a chore to sit through. There were some laughs to be had towards the end. And the finale when the killer makes his appearance known, has a certain "Drive in" charm to it.
Special mention must go to the OTT soundtrack, complete with heavy breathing - think the spoof opening of De Palma's Blow out!

I really like High Tension, or Switchblade Romance as it's known over here. Despite the fact that I don't think the plot holds up well to any sort of scrutiny.

I don't have any problem with the plot/ending.

Well it snowed overnight, so looks like it will be a day curled up on the sofa with the remote control and my blu-ray back-log.

First up then is Midnight Son (German blu-ray). The blu-ray is English speaker friendly having both the original English language track and an English language commentary track.

I saw this in October 2011 at After Dark in Toronto, you can find my initial thoughts over on my Diary thread, and didn't really like it. Following Frankie Teardrops positive remarks above, I decided to give it another go. Has my view changed? Yes, a little. I am glad I gave it a second chance because, while I still don't share fully Frankies enthusiasm, it is a better film than my initial reaction suggests.

Next is Stitches, again this is the German blu which is English friendly with both the film and the making of doc. having English tracks. Unfortunately the making of doc. has forced German sub-titles. I really enjoyed this, you can find more over on my Diary thread as I gave this a short review complete with cast pictures following its debut at Fright Fest last summer.

And finally Moonrise Kingdom (U.K. blu-ray) which while not Anderson's best work is still a great film.

And finally, finally Ben Affleck's Argo. I didn"t have the opportunity to see this in the cinema which is a shame as I thought it was excellent, I think Affleck's choices as a director are interesting - a director to watch out for. Recommended.

I saw Stitches a few days ago as I rented it from Lovefilm and thought it was really good with loads of really good laughs and gore scenes. Ross Noble was brilliant as the titular clown.

Watched Oz The Great and Powerful. Highly recommend it. See it in 3D though because the film takes great use of the format. It's not a pop out cheap style it's more layered depth that makes you feel like part of the journey.

Terror on Tour

Read so many bad reviews of this, but I enjoyed it for what it was.
With it's backdrop of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll, if you're the undemanding slasher fan, chances are you will too.
