About to watch Saving Private Ryan (for the umpteenth time since the cinema release in 1998) on Film4, despite it's message of "We're American and we were the only ones fighting those nasty Germans during WWII" and it's frankly ridiculous plot, I still love it and usually watch it whenever it's on TV

I know man, that's why I never bother 'bout anyone's writing. We all make mistakes, I just know how to cover most of mine up by writing in my "dialect" text! Stay cool, bro' 'n' 'ave fun.

I've been told that "Shaving Ryan's Privates" is a much better film and "historically true!"

Tbh 99% of true stories I just watch the film for what it is and ignore any fact that its based on a true story.

Rewatched Messiah of Evil for the 70's horror list. Gets better with every viewing. The languid pacing, queasy soundtrack, and half-asleep performances give it a totally unique atmosphere. Off the top of my head, the closest thing I can compare it to is Herk Harvery's Carnival of Souls. It has that similar oppressive air of dread (and the similar dead-end seaside town setting). The two standout set pieces in the shopping mall and cinema are among the finest individual horror sequences of that decade, by my reckoning . . .
