Watched " Martin " Arrow DVD last night and really quite enjoyed it. PQ on both versions wide-screen & 4:3 was very dodgy but still watchable. One of Romero's favorites............... for me though not as good as his Zombie outings.:) PS I blame you people for this.........i have started buying DVD's again after going Blu for some time. |

Just finished watching Edward Scissorhands, I absolutely love this film, probably my favourite from both Depp and Burton. Always makes me sad seeing Vincent Price's final on screen moments, a true great |
Made it through 90 mins of the Synapse 42nd Street Forever blu - cant take any more hyperbole! Matango looks amazing in hi def. wouldn't mind seeing The Depraved, The Dark, Invitation to Ruin, The Evictors (Jessica Harper - who knew?) and Ginger so far. Must admit a lot of this 60s cheesecake stuff bores me, ahem, rigid after 2 mins can't imagine sitting through the lot. Well worth a purchase this set - great fun, but as I say, in manageable doses! |
Skyfall (2012) Bond: "What makes you think this is my first time?" Silva: "Ooh! Mr Bond!" Has to go down as one of the greatest lines of dialogue in any Bond movie! |

Got my groove on and had a double bill of Fritz the Cat and The Nine Lives of Fritz the Cat. It's all good, baby!! |
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back Kevin Smith Project session 5 Jay: What the **** is the Internet? Holden: The Internet is a communication tool used the world over where people can come together to bitch about movies and share pornography with one another. Well I enjoyed that a hell of a lot more than I was expecting, yes it's childish, the in jokes come so thick and fast it borders on tedium, but some how it miraculously stays fun and damn funny. Coming back to this film after 10 years blew me away, I love how manic it is, I love all the cameos, I love all the visual gags and in jokes, I loved the soundtrack. It's not perfect, far from it in fact, but damn it's good. |
After The Haunting I just watched Ghost Story (1974) A very underated British mystery horror film Would recommend this little gem to fans of classic British horror:). |
Margaret Found this quite an affecting piece, and maybe due to the fact I've been in a fragile state of mind, it got to me. Directed by playwright Kenneth Lonergan (You Can Count On Me), Margaret suffered numerous production problems and edits before the studio brought in various producers and directors such as Martin Scorsese and Sydney Pollack to edit it down, although Lonergan approved the final cut. As it stands the 2.5h release I saw still holds a hefty running time (there's apparently a 3 hour 'extended' cut too), but I was invested enough in the characters for that to not matter. Anna Paquin is quite extraordinary as sassy teen, Lisa, who finds herself inadvertently causing a bus accident that kills a woman; the guilt of which sends her on a path of emotional destruction that also takes its toll on those who are close to her, particularly her mother (played by J. Smith-Cameron). It's an emotionally wrought, yet understated picture that avoids the usual contrivances with some naturalistic performances that at times feel on the verge of improv, as Lisa's own adolescent processing clashes with the world weary, established despondency of her elders, all of whom harbor and repress their own internal turmoils. And while this is Paquin and Smith-Cameron's film, there is some fine support from Mark Ruffalo, Matt Damon, Jean Reno and Matthew Broderick (who also aided with funding to get the film out), among others. The film's a tad baggy, but it's the moments of quiet brilliance, honesty and subtle pinches of humour that make it. And as said, emotionally affecting without resorting to histrionics and overwrought melodrama. It's certainly stuck with me. |

Been suffering with the flu for the passed two days, so what better film to watch this afternoon than John Carpenter's The Thing! Rob Bottin's FX work on this are among my favourites, and the fact he was only 22 at the time make them even more impressive |

Just saw Mama. What a tedious waste of two hours (if you included trailers etc) that was! Utterly contrived and deathly dull. The whole build up has these creepy, feral kids giggling around the house, playing with something that we are only afforded glimpses of, while Jessica Chastain's walking cliché, punk rock adopted mother (Look! She wears a Misfits shirt, has tattoos and says "****" on her voice mail message!) does her best to look like she gives a shit (and fails). Of course the ending is signposted a mile off during some awful flashback dream sequences, and has the contorting, CGI Mama plastered all over the screen, like some early reject from Ringu. Dreadful. |
That bad eh, looks pretty creepy in the trailer, good bit of false advertising I guess |
I quite liked the trailer too, and I'm never, ever trusting anything with G.D.Toro's name attached again. Not until I have proof in triplicate that it won't be a stinker. I didn't like Sinister or Insidious either, so make of that what you will. I just have little tolerance for lazy horror that insults its audience's intelligence. It was nothing but product. |

just started watching demolition man forgotten how funny and good this movie is. |
Nightmare City ...again... Why are so many of the zombies men of retirement age that appear to have just stepped off the golf course wearing shite face paint? Completely bewildering. |
The House On Haunted Hill Can't beat a bit of Vincent price:popcorn:. |
Watched Sinister a few nights ago. Not bad, was late and I was struggling to stay awake so I suspect I might enjoy it more if I try again. Watched Taken2 as well, enjoyed it though it's not a patch on the original. What I did really enjoy though last week was Dark Shadows. I love Tim Burtons films but I have to admit I weren't expecting much from this one so was pleasantly surprised. |
