I'm with Philleh on this one. I really enjoyed No Country, thought the end was fantastic. Javier Bardem is so good in that movie. Two thumbs up.

The scene in the motel, towards the end, is possibly the greatest piece of tension the Coen’s have created - it's phenomenal.

As for the ending, it's so anti-Hollywood you have to take your hat off to them!

Last two I got were Twilight Zone: The Lost Classics (a movie from the 90s I think featuring two scripts that were written by the creator of the Twilight Zone, and not filmed. Can't wait to see that as I love the original series.) and The Orphanage on blu-ray, which was good but not quite what I expected. Very freaky scene with a medium!!

David Cronenberg's "The Brood"!

An absolute masterpiece! Excellent film. The scariest film he's ever made, and one of his best (up there with 'The Fly' and 'VideoDrome' (my least fav being 'Crash')). And the Anchor Bay 2-disk DVD has both the uncut UK and the US version as well as some extras. Brilliant stuff

5/5

Yep it's an excellent package. The UK version is the R-rated cinema print and the US version features the full unrated print (including the 30 secs or so of distributor cuts). Great stuff.

Watching this film proves once again what an excellent actor Oliver Reed really was.

Cronenberg's great, love his work (including "Crash"), but "The Brood" just left me cold.

I really enjoyed The Brood. It's Scanners that I can't get my head round. Once that dude's head has exploded (which is great) I fall asleep (which isn't great).

I'm a big fan of Dead Ringers.

Olly Reed....a friggin legend-what a guy.....now resides in that big Guinness bar in the sky....
THE BROOD IS an excellent package-yet to see a bad Cronenberg film...

Watched the U.S. FUNNY GAMES last night -what's the point of these remakes (apart from financial) ? It's almost a shot for shot remake.....

Yeah, Cronenberg RULES!!!!!!! One of the greatest directors of all time - no question about it IMO. Has anyone else seen his 1996 'Crash' - I know that Trench has - I was slightly disappointed with it (but maybe thats because i've never seen a film like that before prehaps)

Yeah, I'd say american remakes are crap too! (Except for 'Dawn Of The Dead', 'The Hills Have Eyes' and Cronenberg (again!) 'The Fly',I'd say). Just proves how rubbish Hollywood is lately! IMO

Just ordered :

Misery (4.99)
Nightmares In A Damaged Brain (4.99)
Brain Damage (4.99)
Dead And Breakfast (3.99)
Last Cannibal World (4.99)

I'll tell you what I think when I get them
