His best film in my opinion. Certainly his most underrated. Have you seen Mother of Tears?

Suspiria is my very favourite, but it's certainly a great film unfairly treated by the critics.I love the wonderfully atmospheric opening & the score & it was great to see good old Donald Pleasance in an Argento film.Jennifer Connelly is also pretty damn good too.Certainly best viewed in the full cut to be appreciated than the one entitled Creepers.

Same with Deep Red in that I prefer the longer cut. Phenomena was an experiment and one that would always divide people so in a way I can understand its criticism but at the same time I don't agree with the stick it's often received.

I love Suspiria but at the same time have always been frustrated how mainstream film watchers with little or no interest in European Horror laud it as the best European Horror film of all time. As if they'd know. You need to watch more than 3 European films in order to make that opinion.

Jim, be sure to pick up MoT pronto. Play have it for a fiver. it's worth every penny . Outside of Phenomena, Tenebrae, Inferno, Suspiria and Deep Red I rate as the best film he's ever done.

Clouds right, Mother of Tears is an excellent film, and I paid 16 quid for it , plus it has Asia Argento in it so it was worth every penny .

Its well worth getting Jim.

As much as I love Suspiria & most of Argento's earlier films, for me Bava's Black Sunday & Black Sabbath remain my favourite European horror films. However, I also like The Living Dead At Manchester Morgue & Tombs Of The Blind Dead a great deal.

I gotta say I regard Kill, Baby... Kill! as a better film than Mask of Satan. Mask is almost perfect but its erratic plot lets it down I feel. Black Sabbath is a classic and the final story is great, shame about the crappy first segment though. My favourite Bava movie though is Bay Of Blood.
