I totally agree Frankie and the humanity that McNoughton brings to the film is precisly why Henry is a better film than I Stand Alone, which has a central character that is impossible to engage with...

Just had a double bill of ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 and BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA.

The image blu-ray of ASSAULT looks phenomenal for the most part, the best i've seen it for certain. During the first raid of the police house when there trying to get Napolean wilson out of the cell the image looks a little poor but that single minute was the only real flaw. Its region locked but if you can pick it up its certainly worth it. If you have never seen the film then thats something you really need to remedy immediately!

The same can be said for BIG TROUBLE. Fox's disc is region free and runs on my ps3 with no problems. It also looks great with plenty of detail and all the extras carried over from the dvd.

Now i'm off to check out networks blu-ray of WEEKEND AT BERNIES before bed!

Another film I love and need to get on blu ray, I used to watch my VHS every Sunday morning as a kid before anyone else was up, along with Ghostbusters

Batman Begins (2005) A reboot for the new century! Leaving behind the Burton/Schumacher quadrilogy, (rightfully so especially after 3 and 4), Christopher Nolan's version is more realistic and grittier. Gone are the vast towers of a dark Gotham and its over the top characters. With a blast of the french horn enters Bale's Batman, a worthy successor to Keatons 80's version, (the less said about Kilmer's version and Clooney's Bat-nipples the better!) Neesons Ducard/Al Ghul character adds to the realism especially as he appears the stronger of the two, but the movie is by no means perfect, a couple of the scenes just dont look right, for instance the scene in the subway when Batman gets shot with Dawes taser whilst he stands there head slightly bowed, smirking with his cape wrapped around him looks forced as if to say 'I'm Batman and that can,t hurt me!' Big grin from the audience! Plenty of action, a nice origin story and believable characters, this franchise will be hard to beat next time round!

Possession (1981)

Jesus christ what a movie. I watched it a couple of days ago & it's not left my thoughts since. Isabelle Adjani's performance is sensational. I'm not sure I understood everything I saw but it didn't feel like it mattered too much as everything was so memorable & visually stunning. Can't wait to see it again, first of all to try and make more sense of it and second to see if it has the same effect on me second time around.

My Bloody Valentine (2009)

I'd heard a few people say that this isn't a bad remake. I love the original, probably one of my favourite slashers. It was nice to see Tom Atkins back on screen & I was kind of on board with the film for the first half hour or so, nothing great but it was mildly entertaining. Unfortunately it went really downhill after this & become dull, which for a slasher film is a sin. The whole 'who's the killer' plot of the final 20'odd minutes was so overblown. I really couldn't care less & was more than glad when the film ended.

Nonsense.

I think My Bloody Valentine is the best of the remakes. Thought it had some fine bloody murders and the 3d was actually very good. I also thought Jensen Ackles was good in the lead role. I really enjoyed it, all four times i've seen it.

The recent run of horror remakes certainly divide opinion,i either love em' - this, The Hills Have Eyes, House of Wax, Texas Chainsaw Massacre or hate em' - Prom Night, The Fog, The Hills Have Eyes 2.
