This quote is from the Fab Press BOOK OF THE DEAD (which I think was originally from Fangoria)

Quote:
You can't do today what filmmaker's were doing 25 years ago. Then, extreme splatter movies like Dawn of the Dead and Lucio Fulci's Zombie were everywhere, and gore was the modus operandi of the times. To be scary, rather than just gross, I knew we had to be radical with our conception of the undead. I watched every zombie film again before starting this and noticed how dated they all looked...It's far too easy to gross people out on a splatter level and far harder to scare them senseless. I made a deliberate choice to be frightening rather than visceral - showing everything covered in blood or the usual Italian style exploitation and cannibalism is now such a dated and hokey approach.
Ha, RESIDENT EVIL is shit and no-one will remember any of those films as fondly as those 'dated' ones.

Default The absolute worst films of all time!

Honestly, at the time of the publicity for RESIDENT EVIL, he was interviewed for Fangoria and Anderson was mentioned in the article (audience in the US I think) he was given a bad reception by the fans about his comments of DOTD

NOTLD and DOTD are classics

They are dated in a sense of being a product of their time. No one could make that style of film in 2011. Modern cameras would be used and they look different to those used in the seventies. Musically impossible also as everyone seems to have to use Protools and a shit Nu metal or rave soundtrack.

However to describe them as hokey is ill judged. Its something he probably thinks about and regrets each time he has just shagged Milla.

I doubt it, he probably just thinks '**** what those nerds have to say, I'm shagging Milla and they are not. Losers'

along the lines of substandard films made from games...Silent Hill. it is dogshit, apart from the pyramid head bit, a typically watered down production, there was nothing wrong with the games storyline (just as there was nae reason to flip about with the Res story IMO).

I despised Silent Hill also. It started out creepy, as the games are, then decided "Damn! our audience will be pea brains, lets throw in a shit load of cgi to keep them awake".

I actually really enjoyed Silent Hill. Better than all the RE films combined, in my opinion.

I agree Silent Hill was good and almost true to the story of the game. The RE series really screwed the story

I thought it was okay with some nicely designed and really disturbing scenes. Although the game is much more effective, the film is certainly no Super Mario Bros, that's for sure!
