I'm curious about how it's 'sort of' region free personally!
well i ordered one of these
External USB 2.0 Slim Blu-ray Drive Player BD ROM DVD RW Drive CD RW Burner | eBay

alone with powerdvd 11 which only lets you change region 5 times, but got a program called dvdfab passkey 8 to reset it, in effect making it region free and a bit of a legal grey area.

Cool. There's a program called AnyDVD which also bypasses the region coding of blurays and DVDs which I used to make my laptop region-free (and my third region free bluray player in the house!) It's only as much of a legal grey area as updating firmware to make your bluray player region-free really.

An external Blu-ray drive for only 15 bucks...?!

Sorry, but that's like buying rubbers for 1 penny or a studio flash kit for 100 bucks... I wish you all good luck!

Is it really that hard to go region free in the UK?

I just walked into my local JB, got the cheapest blu ray player, pressed some numbers on the remote to bring up a special setting screen, and changed the region.

Completely legal, cheap, easy and works like a charm

I think there have only been 2 cheap store-bought players which could be made multiregion (Technika and Toshiba) and you can't get them anymore.

I'm sure the reason the Toshiba model could be made multiregion was because the firmware upgrade was made for the Australian models where players aren't allowed to be region locked which might be why it's easier for you to go region free.

two i tried one the hack didn't work and the other all it did was make the DVD part region free not blu ray. mind i haven't tried the 3d player i got, which i actually didn't need because i forgot that the ps3 plays 3d movies

but i'm happy with this as i can plug it into my laptop and take it with me

Hellbound is easily the best sequel (as you can tell from my sig pic!), but I also really like part V: Inferno. Part 3 is pretty entertaining, but is also pretty stupid and rife with cheesy dialogue. Some of the new cenobites are quite amusing, too.

Really? This is a classic! Typical late '70's Italian horror fare with awful acting, dodgy special efx, but essential viewing. Also known as Buio Omega. Directed by the great Joe D'Amato with a score by Goblin.
This is not as horrific as you may think it is, it's no Nekromantik or Lucker that's for sure! More of a love story really!
Here's a taster...
