It's not The Conversation, Apocalypse Now, or The Godfather, but it's an interesting and atmospheric film with some rewatch and curiosity value because it's a Frances Ford Coppola-directed film, produced by Roger Corman, with a cast featuring Patrick Magee.

I don't particularly rate The Conversation. Two hours or so of Gene Hackman mumbling is all I can remember.

I think The Conversation is one of Coppola's best films, bettered only by The Godfather and The Godfather Part II, and probably the equal of Apocalypse Now.

Me neither. Thought it was quite poor to be honest but i acknowledge that most think it a genuine five star film.

For me Coppola's best film is Apocalypse Now. I even prefer it to The Godfather films, actually i don't love those like i probably should.

Despite this i still think of Coppola as a visionary film maker, one of the new breed along with Bogdanovich, Lucas, Altman, Scorsese, Beatty. Basically the film makers working out of the Hollywood system in the decade that was 69-79.

I enjoyed Apocalypse Now but I didn't think it was quite the masterpiece it's considered. I actually prefer Dracula if we're talking Coppola.

Dracula is an amazing looking film with one of the greatest soundtracks in cinema history and i really like it but it doesn't come close to Apocalypse Now in terms of film making.

On a personal level it is my second favourite Coppola film and would watch it ahead of any Godfather movie any day of the week.

I really must get round to buying The Outsiders. A film i've never seen.

I don't think I've ever seen The Outsiders. If it's anything like Rumble Fish, which was released the same year, I would probably really like it and shall look into adding a Blu-ray release by collection.

To be fair Apocalypse Now and Dracula aren't really ideal films to compare being so so different in every way. Purely in terms of the directors output I prefer Dracula but then it's also just a more appealing genre and story to me personally than AN. His best work is The Godfather, closely followed by it's sequel.

Oppenheimer

Is it as good as the hype suggests? At almost four hours it's a mighty watch. I feel you need more than simply good actors acting and talking for that length of time so what's the verdict on here from those who have seen it?

I had it in my trolley today at Asda then put it back on the shelf.
