The Slender Man (2018)
Antisocial (2013, Cody Calahan)

Former featuring a quartet of women battling an ancient whatever and the latter being a drably lit mishmash of Pontypool, REC and Unfriended. Witless is the watchword here as stupid people do unforgivable things in order to die horribly

Victor Crowley: Hatchet 4
Andrew (the survivor from 3) has just published a book about the massacre of the previous films and is advertising it. Some student filmmakers want to get him involved with their movie and head to the Swamp and play some voodoo vids on YouTube. Andrew is on a play with his ex wife, his agent and some other people. The plane crashes, Crowley comes back and then the bloodshedding begins.
While I did have a great time watching it, out of the 4 movies, it ain't the strongest of them. Some fun kills and some great humour nonetheless. Also an uncomfortable sequence with a fat man at a book signing event, if only he wasn't fat and old .
Anyway still an enjoyable sequel nevertheless.

Antisocial 2 (2015)
Never heard of these? I hadn't. I wish to Cthulhu that this was still the case. This one morphs into a Res Evil clone vot vis ze evil doctor/clinic locale. With a cut price Cranston calling the shots, this one just drags. Even stupider than it's parent.

The Visit (MNS)
About as terrifying as semolina, this laugh riot from the Shang a lang man was a handy antidote to the awful duo that proceeded it . A sojourn with distant relatives can be hell at the best of times ... but this takes the whole Mcvities factory . Feast on the drivel within this rotten apple of a movie.

Zombie Flesh Eaters 2. 1988.

A terrorist steals a container with a liquid chemical, that enters his body, after death his body is cremated and infects a small island that turns everyone into zombies.

This was a decent film from Fulci, as he directed three quarters of it and leaving the project for health reasons, this was a decent sequel but does drag on a bit, even though it wasn't the original idea Fulci had and does have some funny moments with a head coming out of the fridge and a legless Zombie swimming but does have its gore and plenty of blood and bird zombies. 7 out of 10

Vampyros Lesbos.

A female lawyer called Linda has sexy dreams about a mysterious woman and sees the woman of her dreams when her boyfriend Omar takes her to a live sex show. Then later she travels to a island in Turkey to sort out a inheritance for the Countess Carody from Count Dracula, and what do you know the Countess(Soledad Miranda) is the woman of her dreams again.

Not a bad effort at all from Jess Franco and definately one of his better films. a bit like a soft porn lesbian Dracula film with bizarre surreal like atmospheres, and quite arty from Franco as well.
Soledad Miranda is absolutely gorgeous in the film and has so much charm on camera and very impressive outfits. Jess Franco certainly had great taste in the ladies.
And speaking of Franco, he has a bit of a cameo role in this film as well. and turns up as a creepy limping hotel worker who enjoys torturing and killing young women in the wine cellar.

and the soundtrack is quite interesting too, that is rather groovy and sounds a bit like a bizarre distorted radio. so i award this stylish effort from Mr Franco 75 out of 100.

Aenigma(1987).

Kathy, the local college misfit, has a prank played on her by the other students and ends up in a coma after being knocked down by a car. But later gets her revenge when she possesses the new girl at the college, Eva.

Right, this is definitely not top tier Fulci and is one of his lesser known films. A film that seems to have been inspired by Carrie and Patrick. But despite its faults, including a made for TV like feel and poor acting, it's not a bad watch at all and has a certain charm, with a few nice set pieces especially the scenes set in the art gallery.
Some of the death sequences have a certain sense of style as well including a weird death by snails. But you will be seriously disappointed if you're expecting the over the top gore of The Beyond and Zombie Flesh Eaters.

Nothing outstanding or classic, but it certainly isn't a disaster either. 6.5/10.

Puppet Master
A group of psychics head to an old hotel after being messaged by an old friend. The reason is to find the last person to master the ability to bring inanimate objects to life.
I still like this movie, in spite of the hammy acting. The puppets steal the show, also a random appearance from Barbara Crampton, how can you possibly go wrong.

Burial Ground aka The Zombie Dead. 1981.

A professor opens a crypt and unleashed a horde of zombies, a group of people staying in a villa battle it out with the horde to survive.

Getting the creepy part out the way first, don't treacle know what was worst the zombie gore or a teen trying to get it on with his mum and sticking his hand up her dress to cop a feel.

This was a decent story line but think I missed on how the zombies were put into the brick wall or was that not mentioned, but the professor does mention hyroglyphics from a book and realises they are there and tells them that he is their friend. Yeah you really want to be friends with a bunch of zombies that have a constant Hunger, hate to play poker with them and loose.

The acting was good as well as the obvious dubbing and the zombie make up with close shots of mud and maggots or is it curry sauce blended in and the boob bite

The film does have excellent photography from Gianfranco Maioletti and directed by Andrea Bianchi who also directed. Strip Nude For Your Killer, 7 out of 10.

Thursday 18 Oct....

The US cut of THE SHINING.Still classic and the only performance Nicholson ever bettered than this was Cuckoo's nest.
I prefer the longer US cut to the European version.
