I appreciate all the Soulside Journey material a lot more these days, but at the time I wasn't that impressed since it was just like any of a number of roadrunner american death metal bands such as Obituary.

I particularly like the instrumental Snowfall off the demo tapes album.

Both are amazing bands no question but for me Darkthrone always have and always will be my favourite just love everything about them now more than ever their attitude is priceless just two normal guys who love metal with no bullshit about them.

I've just been having a scan through all of their albums on Spotify because my CDs are in boxes and every track off every album until Goatlord is great, I'm not the biggest fan of FOAD and Circle the Wagons it has to be said but as you said it's all about the f- you attitude they have. Underground Resistance is pretty good though and seems like a more serious for direction for them after a few years of just having a laugh.

Emperor/Ihsahn is very serious in comparison though so this might be a Goonies/Raiders situation and I should just forget about which is the best and love them both equally
