What Are You Listening To?

Tool are now on streaming services so I decided to have a listen on Spotify, never got the hype for them and haven’t listened to a right lot of their stuff before, so after trying to make it through 3 different tracks, I still don’t get all the love for them!

I kind of agree with you.

Although i do own all their studio albums to date i have to be in a certain mood to listen to them.

If you said 'i'm sorry, but you have to get rid of all your Tool albums' it wouldn't really bother me...except the one with the glasses. That's cool to experience every so often.

I am a fan of Tool but i find them to be more of an experience especially the later albums than just a band if you know what i mean. Like Dem has said you really have to be in the mood to listen to them. Again the later albums are more a just sut back relax clear your mind and get taken away into the journey of the album definitely not a throw on one track and go band anymore. I hope you get what I'm trying to say.

Every band with a fanatical following is overrated because people will constantly say how dare you not like this band or you just don't understand it and it becomes more of an intalectual argument then and not just about not liking the music.

Agree with some of the comments re: Tool. Definitely a mood thing. I have a play list with a lot of Tool tracks in, but they get skipped more often than not. Still a great band, though I'm all about Puscifer when it comes to Maynard at the moment.

I remember when Lateralus came out and I read a review which I think gave it five stars and said something along the lines of that it's best listened to in a dark room illuminated by nothing other than church candles.

It's not music which you listen to for fun or as a sing-a-long in the car, but to appreciate the wonderful sound, cryptic lyrics, and to let it to transport you somewhere different.
