I used to love Xandria back in the early 00's. Their albums Kill the Sun, Ravenheart, India and Salome with singer Lisa Middelhauve were terrific, then they went into the 'must keep changing the singer' mode and lost the plot sounding exactly like everyone else with their choruses lost in backing tracks.

This was the song that got me into them, the title track from second album Ravenheart. I first heard it on a Beauty in Darkness dvd which i used to buy.

Xandria - Ravenheart

@Dave Boy - Liking Beyond the Black a lot. It's a hell of a lot more interesting than the majority of female fronted symphonic metal. Good songwriting and not relying on choral backing tracks just letting the singer go for it.

Listened to two songs from that album now - Free Me and Winter is Coming and both were excellent.

Opening track Is There Anybody Out There? is really good. Great singer with a strong voice that doesn't get lost and music that's more metal than symphony.

That Xandria track is good Dem.
I had never heard them before I saw them as support for Visions Of Atlantis. This new album is the new singer from that tour.
I have been listening a lot to Beyond The Black. I watched a concert from Wacken just as another band to try and thought they were really good. Their version of Motorhead's 'Love Me Forever' had me sold.
I missed them on the last UK tour in London they did which was a shame but watched the concert on youtube. I will catch them next time.

One of the best film themes IMHO.
