Classic track - Turbo Lover. My favourite Priest track. I just love the way the song builds and gets heavier.

I really liked the album from St Jude, that was given away a few months ago. I was going to buy that eventually but it saved me the trouble.

"I'mmm yooour turrrbooo lover! Teell mee there's nooo other!" Great song, though my fav on that album has got to be Out In The Cold .

Oh yeah, the St Jude album was top notch! I think my fav song from one of their cds may be the 14+ minute song Epilogue from Ancestors a while back - incredible stuff!

Have you ever read the Metal Hammer mag?

I bought the very first issue - ZZ Top cover. - I still have the poster of Doro Pesch that came free over the first two issues.

I think now i prefer Classic Rock to Metal Hammer, there are too many bands nowadays that scream as their singers have no talent. I still buy both mags each month though.

I dumped ten years of Metal Hammer mags just before Christmas. I only have the last six years now.

Woah! That's pretty cool - especially the first issue!

I used to buy Metal Hammer, but switched to Classic Rock since, as you said, most of the bands they cover are just screaming douches. Mind you, Metal Hammer always came with the coolest freebies (besides the cds).

2012 seems like a great year for new releases.

Kiss
Aerosmith
Thin Lizzy
Judas Priest
Rush
Van Halen
Black Sabbath
The Cult
Tool
Soundgarden
Killing Joke
Accept
Alice in Chains
Slash

If just half of them release a new album it will be a vintage year.

Lets hope so, Dem! Perhaps the end of the world will be due to the sheer amount of awesomeness this year.

Agreed about the Elephant album... the Rising From the Red Sand compilations are great too...

Earlier, I was listening to Phurious' Cinescape Reel 4 - which I would highly recommend. Be sure to check out all volumes (and see if you can spot the film samples mixed in with the music without reading the tracklisting). Just now I was listening to Black Sun Production's Plastic Spider Thing, a work based on Coil music... it's very good, well worth seeking out.
Matthew Bower must be one of the great 'unsung' talents of underground music, not exactly unknown but certainly deserving of heaps more accolades. Skullflower, later Ramleh etc were so original in bringing the 'industrial' into rock forms and unleashing something utterly primeval-sounding... so different to superficially similar 'noise rock' approaches of the mid-eighties or the later generic industrial metal.
I have to admit those Phuricorp C90 compilations look dangerously mouth watering... looking at the track lists, there are a few numbers I've been seeking for a while, will be interesting to check them out for sure.
