Latest Album Bought

Call me old fashioned but I much, much prefer buying a CD than downloading it from Itunes. And, hopefully, quite a few people on here are the same.

Sooooo....

What was the last album/cd/single/casette (!), whatever that you bought (online or off).

I recieved Black Sabbath's Master Of Reality today and have Angel Witch's... Angel Witch on order.

Baseball Fury 15th November 2011 08:03 PM

I buying hard copies of music about two years ago. previous to that I used to DJ but packed it in and flogged all my vinyl (3000+ records) when my son was born and shortly after got rid of all my DVDs. The only thing I collect with any fervour is DVDs (and more recently Blus) now.

But I had to make an exception recently as my mate's band released their second album, which I could have downloaded but it's on vinyl with a pic of a massive ship on it, so how could I not own that

Amazingly good music too:

Nitkowski - Stay In The Home You Love.

Demoncrat 16th November 2011 09:21 AM

The Snivelling Shits "I Cant Come" was the last cd i bought,
SMiLE was the last cd i received.

both are great, if very different from each other (no shit sherlock) and
will hopefully acquire the new Fall and Eleanor Friedberger's solo cd(s) in London.
or some Crass (depends what theyre selling at gig);)

The Fall's Ersatz GB was the last album I bought. Might see what Eleanor Friedberger's solo stuff is like; I'm a big fan of The Fiery Furnaces.

Rassilon 16th November 2011 11:35 AM

Got Keanes first album from poundland.
Got Noel gallahgers high flying birds, which was awful and I sold it.

You're an angel witch, you're an angel witch!

Last musics I bought was the Calvinball/ONSIND/Apologies, I Have None split 12". Three excellent UK punk bands covering each others songs. It's a one sided record, with a lovely screenprint on the other side.

If you fancy giving them a listen, all the songs are up here - Punknews.org | Calvinball

Calvinball are a drunk punk band. ONSIND are acoustic feminists. Apologies, I Have None like folk.

darthelvis 17th November 2011 11:55 AM

Last albums I bought were new Janes Addiction album & Ryan Adams latest solo effort, both are excellent and well worth a purchase!!!

platostotal 17th November 2011 12:38 PM

Wensday picked up Amy Winehouse FRANK and Brian Eno AMBIENT 1 CD's, from a charity shop for £3 each, can't beat the silver discs, I have a mp3 player full of songs but if I want top quality I'll use a CD recorded mini-disc for walkmen compilation duty. Although cheaper now, I can't help feeling CD's should be much cheaper in shops to compete with downloads(just be thankful if you're not a classical buff, box sets get stupidly expensive)

If you've got an iPod, I'd recommend ripping into AIFF, as it's CD quality. It's basically a modern codec of WAV that supports lower frequencies. If you've got another player (or a jailbroken iPhone/iPod Touch) then FLAC is the way forward.

Queen Deep Cuts 1 & 2. Awesome albums. Featuring a heavier Queen, with some Zep style riffs and bluesy drums.

They keep popping up as a recommendation on Amazon but this is the first time I've heard them. I quite like it but I'm not sure if I I'd buy it. I go through brief periods of listening to metal and tend to like the sludge/doom end of it or the more up front 70s occult style groups like Jex Thoth, Blood Ceremony and The Devil's Blood.

I just ordered the new one today. Have you got anything by Blood Ceremony? Pretty cool sound, Black Sabbath meets Jethro Tull with a female singer. Their first lp reeks of "The Blood on Satan's Claw".
