Ordered - Rules of the Game and M (by mistake if you can believe it! I have the MOC)

Watched Cul-De-Sac, very strange, very singular, apparently Polanski's fav out of all his movies. Not sure about that but definitely worth a look, Donald Pleasance as you've never seen him before. I found old Max out of Hart to Hart (Lionel Stander) a little grating but I guess he was meant to be. Bava would have died for this location - so would Rollin, a perfect creepy castle. Extras are light - the doc is excellent but only 22 min long. Come on Criterion, blus of Knife In the Water, The Tenant and Fearless Vampire Killers please - especially The Tenant, my number one

Anyone guess what I'd like a Blu Ray of?

If you're talking about SS Experiment Camp, that doesn't really look like the sort of film Criterion would normally release! The Wicker Man, on the other hand, would be the sort of title they would release and would be very warmly welcomed.

Got Paths of Glory and The Double Life of Veronique. Watched the former - first time viewing - pretty amazing, the sound mix during the Anthill sequence was incredible, terrifying. Great to see Joe Turkel in there - always a sign of quality. Ralph Meeker unrecognisable from Kiss Me Deadly. Really a brilliant early Kubrick this and at 88 mins it shows you don't need a bloated running time to create an unforgettable experience.

Double Life is a harrowing portrait of human intuition. Just a wonderful film. The transfer is glorious as well. Have fun.

They are both excellent films – Paths of Glory is a masterpiece and one of the greatest anti-war films ever made. I've only seen The Double Life of Veronique (shamefully) once but thought it was brilliant when I did and I should really watch it again sometime soon.

Tut tut.
OF COURSE I'm talking about The Wicker Man.
The film that INVENTED the word 'cult'!

I really hope that's something the Criterion Collection would release along with some new extra features. It's probably #1 on the films I'd most like to be released on BD.
