I would've went for the Koch version if it had the commentaries.

I've heard the German release is a little lighter which inturn reveals more detail but the US release has been overseen by Cronenberg...decisions, decisions.

This one makes for a nice blu-ray metal-pak

The transfer shames the Arrow release although you do lose the extras but if it's picture quality alone that you want, then this is the one to go for.

Well, it is DNRed to death but I prefer it too, at least on my 40" TV. And it has in fact the German version as an extra. Although it looks terrible, this has a certain nostalgic quality too me. It leaves all the gore intact but is faster paced (for example, the scene with the detective at the beginning was cut).

It is, yes. Uncut.

And it looks fantastic too!

zane, have you watched the BD of The Laughing Policeman (Massenmord in San Francisco)? Or do you know if it's a good release?

I have not seen this blu-ray. The few comments that I've read say the PQ is solid.

I've got that BD and the PQ is indeed very decent. Plenty of grain but lots of detail also. Another release I'd recommend along the same lines is THE SEVEN UPS starring Roy Scheider.

Some good recommendations going on here. I can't seem to find Videodrome or Mark of the Devil on Amazon.de, so where can they be had from?
