Yeah, I know what you mean. The 90's Full Moon releases were the reason I started collecting their stuff.

Same, but I also like their Troma releases. When I bought some stuff, which probably included The Last Horror Film and at least one of the Toxic Avenger movies, from their table at the Festival of Fantastic Films in Manchester a few years ago, one of them asked me if I preferred Full Moon or Troma. I told him I couldn't choose between them. It does seem as if they have put Troma on the backburner (at least for the moment) and, in terms of the general releases and not those specific to a collection, are from Charlie Band.

Susan Foreman 7th April 2017 02:49 PM

'I Drink Your Blood' has been officially announced as well, but there isn't a lot of information:

"July Lineup Announcement #2 - 10/07/17

88 Vault #1

I Drink Your Blood (1970) Uncut and Uncensored, available in 2 cuts.

Lots more details to follow nearer release date."

https://scontent-lht6-1.xx.fbcdn.net...28&oe=598B77BE

It's also been confirmed that a) '88 Vault' is the new sub-label and b) this release has been licensed from the Grindhouse label

Rik 7th April 2017 02:53 PM

If they've licensed it from Grindhouse, then there's a chance "I Eat Your Skin" will added too, like the Grindhouse release (in HD I should add)

It definitely would seem to be the case. I asked them the other week about Sgt Kabukiman and was told I could get it from Troma.

It's a film I haven't seen and was waiting for them to release it because it would stack up nicely with the Toxic Avenger releases.

Their upcoming release of Luther the Geek is a Troma title, Nos.

MuckyFunster 7th April 2017 03:14 PM

"88 Vault" ? A new line perhaps?

I realised that after I had posted that statement and looked back on the thread, but the overall point remains that, in the number of films from each production company being released, Troma has taken a backseat to Full Moon at the moment.

"July Lineup Announcement #3 - 24/07/17

Cold Blooded Beast - Italian Collection #32

And yes, of course this will have a limited slipcase!!

A clinic for mentally unstable, but wealthy, women is being terrorised by a maniac with a fetish for medieval weaponry. Dr. Keller (Klaus Kinski, X-Ray) and his team are clueless as to who is behind these brutal crimes. Is it a member of his staff, or have one of his charges finally snapped and started to act out on their perverse fantasies on their fellow inmates?

From maverick filmmaker Leonardo Di Leo (Shoot First, Die Later), comes Cold Blooded Beast (A.K.A Slaughter Hotel) his one and only foray into the celebrated giallo genre. Featuring some of Italian exploitation cinemas finest beauties, Rosalba Neri, Cheryl Hume and Monica Strebel, Cold Blooded Beast is a sleazy delight for anyone with passing interest in the seedier side of the genre. 88 Films are proud to present the film uncut, and in HD, for the first time in the UK!"

July Lineup Announcement #5 - 24/07/17

Just Before Dawn - Slasher Classics #27

Features Include:

- High Definition Transfer from the Internegative
- Uncompressed LPCM 24 Bit Audio
- Optional English Subtitles
- AUDIO COMMENTARY with author and critic Justin Kerswell and Calum Waddell, director of SLICE AND DICE: THE SLASHER FILM FOREVER
- EXTENDED CUT - Optional Oversea Version (102 Mins)
- JEFF BEFORE DAWN: Exclusive new interview with director Jeff Lieberman
- GRINDHOUSE ALL -STARS: Insightful new documentary in which Lieberman, Roy Frumkes (STREET TRASH), Matt Cimber (BLACK SIX) and Joe Ellison (DON'T GO IN THE HOUSE) share memories of the slime and grime of the grindhouse glory days!
- 2 Theatrical Trailers
- GALLERY of On-location stills from Jeff Liebermans's personal archive." "JUST BEFORE DAWN
- Collector's booklet by Calum Waddell

Beloved cult filmmaker Jeff Lieberman already horrified audiences across the world with his killer-worm epic SQUIRM (1976) but he arguably outdid himself with JUST BEFORE DAWN (1981) one of the most popular slasher classics to ever tear up the inside of a grindhouse movie theatre. In this powerful bout of plasma splashing cinema, a group of teenage vacationers opt for an ill-advised hike around the beautiful national forests of Oregon. But Lieberman is quick to show that backwoods baddies do not just exist in the American South - they can also be found preying on campers in the supposedly more liberal (and safe) West Coast too!! With machete massacres galore, masked maniacs on the prowl and plenty of skinny dipping and flesh ripping to enjoy, JUST BEFORE DAWN is a horror masterpiece that is finally available in the UK, fully remastered in HD. Starring George Kennedy (THE NAKED GUN) and Chris Lemmon (WISHMASTER), 88 Films is proud to present one of the most sublime and stylish slice and dice creepers ever concocted!"

The Long Hair of Death - Italian Collection #33

After the murder of her mother and sister, Elizabeth Karnstein (Halina Zalewska, Date for a Murder) is taken in by the affluent Count Humboldt and his family. She has been married to his twisted son, Kurt (George Ardisson, Clap, You're Dead), and as a plague sweeps their small village; one prophesised by Elizabeth’s mother before her death, the spectre of Elizabeth’s older sister, Helen (Barbara Steele, Castle of Blood) appears. During one fateful stormy night, anyone with the surname Humboldt starts to perish one-by-one.

Antonio Margheriti (Seven Deaths in a Cat’s Eye) strikes again, with this brooding gothic chiller that effortlessly re-captures the magic of his acclaimed classic, Castle of Blood. Re-discover this twisted, labyrinthine masterpiece today, courtesy of this stunning HD presentation from 88 Films!"

I can't help thinking that 88Films are running the risk of spreading themselves too thin with regards to the sub-labels

With today's announcement, we have:
  • 88 Vault
  • 88 Asia
  • Slashers Collection
  • Italian Collection
  • Ted V. Mikels Collection
  • Grindhouse Collection
  • Cult Cinema Collection

At this rate, it'll end up with every single release being on a different and new label!!!!

Incidentally, at time of writing, it seems that they have a bit of a sale on. A quick look at their site gives

Castle Freak DVD - £5:00
A Blade In The Dark DVD - £5:00
Nail Gun Massacre DVD - £5:00
Beach Babes 2 DVD - £3:00
Creepozoids DVD - £4:00
Amazonia DVD - £5:00
Blood Orgy Of The She-Devils DVD - £4:00
Alien 2 DVD - £5:00

Eagle eyed visitors to the 88 webshop will have noticed that Perfume of the Lady in Black and Body Puzzle have appeared in the pre-orders section. They'll be available to order in the next two weeks. The slip for Body Puzzle looks really nice, almost 3D.

MuckyFunster 13th April 2017 07:47 PM

I only bought Shameless' Watch me when I Kill about a fortnight ago. Found in a charity shop! I take it both of these titles will be in the Italian Collection....?

Am boggled by the amount of Euro sleaze turning up in charity shops ...myself I found BU dvds of Nightmare City, The Bloodstained Shadow and a copy of JF's Flight Into Hell once in one go ...
Itl be in the Slashers collection surely?:laugh:

Lol, aye, I don't think I fully thought that through before I added that question mark! It's just that normally on their FB posts 88 say what collection it'll be in and what spine number it'll be. Too many different lines. Too many overspent budgets!

Well, you can almost guarantee that the 88Films version will have even less extras than the Shameless one!

Long Hair Of Death is a great film the Raro transfer is a real beauty i will certainly double dip on this one.
