It isn't a small supplementary featurette by any stretch of the imagination, but an authoritative feature length documentary. I've seen it three times now, and would happily watch it again once I've caught up with the two films I haven't seen, and re-watched the ones I haven't seen for a while.

According to the specs for Grindhouse's Cannibal Ferox on dvdcompare.net, it's 85:33.

Finally pre-ordered ANTROPOPHAGOUS. I have to say that turned out to be a lot more expensive than i thought, paid 37€ incl shipping...
I'd love to support them and buy more of their releases. I like the matching artworks and they try to get nice bonus materials, but i just have a lot of the titles already from the US or Germany and it is off putting to know their titles go for 8,99 at HMV, but they want 12-14,99 + shipping on their site.

I wrote this about the documentary back in January:

It works as a simple overview of the cannibal cycle of films, as a critique of the films and such things as the racism, sexism, ethnography and cultural supremacy generally contained in the films and also includes quite a bit of humour, touching on the rivalry between Deodato and Lenzi.

The three main academic contributors are very informative and enlightening without being dry and speaking in a way which will alienate those who solely see the films as entertainment. There is a lot of really interesting stuff from Deodato, Lenzi, Me Me Lai, Robert Kerman, Luigi Cozzi and Sergio Martino about the productions themselves in terms of stories from the set and how they feel about them now, and Kim Newman is always great entertainment with his own, fairly unique and extremely knowledgeable, opinions about films and the genre/cycle in general.

Overall, it's excellent and makes me want to check out Emmanuelle and the Last Cannibals and Island of the Fishmen, probably the only to the featured films I haven't seen.

Eaten Alive! The Rise and Fall of the Italian Cannibal Film is a thoroughly informative and thought-provoking piece of documentary filmmaking, which should make the 88 Films release of Zombi Holocaust a must-own title for all genre fans.

Thanks for the heads up - just ordered it. Does anyone know whether HMV will be stocking the BD releases of Zombie Holocaust, Anthropophagus, Burial Ground, etc, at £8.99 a go?
