Spirit Entertainment have taken over Network so hopefully normal service will be resumed.

Of course some of the peckers, er experts, over at Blu-rage don't know who Spirit are.

Just the biggest independent dvd and Blu-ray distribution network in the UK.

They handle all the BBC's output other than Doctor Who for example.

I have to admit Dem, I hadn't heard of them either.

As far as I can tell they handle sales and distribution and don't produce discs or content for discs themselves.

Is it not more probable that these guys will only be interested in exploiting what already exists rather than producing new releases? If that is the case where does that leave the unproduced licenses?

I guess I'm being a glass half empty guy and I'm not seeing the Phoenix rise from the ashes just yet, but I am keeping my fingers crossed for good outcome.

It's not like the foundations aren't there. The Network work place and workers are there i presume Spirit will be the money men. The same as Zavvi are to Arrow.

Basically the same as if Network had been taken over.

I'm guessing you don't get alot of tv stuff Rob. Dazzler Media owned by Spirit have f*cking tons of stuff out. Things like Fortitude, Black Mirror, SAS Rogue Heroes, Vienna Blood, Discovery of Witches, It's a Sin.

And they get stuff into Asda as well which is bound to boost sales.

This 'take over' could have been in the planning all along. It's happened a week after Network collapsed. That really isn't a lot of time for a company to purchase another.

Yet there has been no official word on the end of Network, just speculative tweets and blogs.

Had myself (I'm counting myself as one of the first because i was asking Mr. Barlow the previous night if he could get onto Network's site as i couldn't and this was 24 hours before anyone at Blu-rage cottoned on) and others not come across their website and not been allowed access would anyone have been any the wiser?

I know i wouldn't.

It was only then that speculation started to mount. But as i say there has been no official word from anyone.

That's potentially brilliant news

I hope they keep the company going and enable many of us to gradually acquire a Network collection like Demdike's!

Well that's good.

So much for "the sky is falling, physical media is dead" usual crowd!

Yeah, their last accounts were floating around online for people to see and they weren't a company about to go under by any means.

As myself and others have speculated it's probably something to do with the death of their founder last year.

Other Network discs that i had tucked away and not featured in the previous photos.

I think that's it now. Except for Ripping Yarns. God knows where that is.
