I watched Born of Fire last night for the first time.

What a hauntingly beautiful experience in mystical horror it was.

One of Indicator's most comprehensive discs extras wise as well.

Highly recommended.

Mildly infuriating rant alert

I put my Jean Rollin 4k discs next to each other to pack away and noticed that the first two boxes (Shiver and Orphan) are around 5mm taller than the second two boxes (Rape and Hunted). The booklet and the digipaks are also taller. If I were to put them in numerical order it'd be up down up down

I think the fault was with the first batch of releases - notice the titles and logos don't line up on the digipaks and booklets but they do on the second set. Strangely, if you turn them round and stand them on a shelf all the numbers, titles and logos line up perfectly on the spine, despite the boxes being smaller on the second set of releases. At least they do for the two I tried which was Shiver of the Vampires and The Rape of the Vampire - I don't have Two Orphan Vampires.

That they do, and they look very smart indeed, like I said, mildly infuriating and it did make me laugh. Overall they are amazing releases the video quality is outstanding! And more supplemental material than on the Redemption/Kino discs as well.

yes, your eyes will be forever drawn to the discrepancy and will be the visual equivalent of an annoying earworm.

Got my Slaughter set today. What a package! I've not had a chance to watch anything all the way through but checked out the Maria Marten disc and it looks great. But the package as a whole is outstanding including the Indicator trade mark cheeky business card. Flicked through the book and this looks like one of the best ever with tons of biographical, appreciation and contemporary critical information.

Thank you Michael, and please pass on my thanks to all the Indicator staff involved, as this is a release that I could imagine in my mind's eye, but didn't think it would ever happen... I hope it's a huge success...

February's titles mark the first two releases in a whole series of Ozploitation films, to be given similarly lavish BD/UHD/80-page book treatment over the next couple of years. You may recall that Roadgames and Mad Dog Morgan both sold out in record time - well, this was very much noticed by Powerhouse too!

As with the Jean Rollin titles, they're going right back to 35mm basics, creating new 4K restorations from the original negatives and presenting the original longer Australian cuts and alternative international versions (shorter, often redubbed with more US-friendly soundtracks, plus the legendary Italian dub of Patrick with the replacement Goblin score).

As for extras, Mark Hartley's unexpurgated Not Quite Hollywood interviews have, once again, been an absolute goldmine - you only got snippets in the original doc. (Which is unreservedly recommended; it's probably the best Ozploitation primer out there.)

Interesting to see how much more material there is on the Snapshot release than last year's Blu-ray from 88 Films. Although it doesn't have the commentary by The Hysteria Continues, there are two new ones with Tony Ginnane and several interviews, plus the remastered picture and improved subtitles.

I like the film, but I don't know if I like it enough to buy it twice in as many years.
