I find Patrick a bit po-faced. There isn't much exploitation with a capital 'E' for it to be properly classified as an exploitation movie. It is well directed and acted, but I felt, given the set-up, that it should have pushed the boundaries a bit more. There was probably half an eye on the state financing causing the restraint.

I've never seen the unofficial sequel but it sounds a hoot. I think I'll import it next year.

Michael, is there any chance of Indicator releasing Summerfield, a movie that has been criminally under-represented on home video?

'Santo Vs. The Riders Of Terror' (1970) - Pre-order available at PowerHouse Films direct - £19:99

Release date: March 25

"El Santo, the Silver-Masked Man, rides into the Wild West in Santo vs. the Riders of Terror (Santo contra los jinetes del terror), a unique blend of gunplay and lucha libre action.

When a group of lepers escape from their asylum, they fall under the influence of a band of outlaws who are terrorising a small western town. The desperate sheriff calls for El Santo to defeat the bandits, defend the townsfolk, and help the exploited lepers.

Produced by Guillermo Calderón (The Bat Woman) and directed by René Cardona (The Panther Women), Santo vs. the Riders of Terror sees the cine de luchadores meet the ‘chili western’ and adds dashes of horror and romance along the way.

This striking 4K restoration is also coupled with Lepers and Sex (Los leprosos y el sexo), the recently rediscovered ‘sexy’ reworking of Santo vs. the Riders of Terror, which was created by the producers for the export market – all without the knowledge of the family friendly El Santo!"

It *might* be cut

I'm sure Michael Brooke can elaborate, but according to a post he made on FB:
"To forestall the inevitable question about the UK release of this title, I'll confirm here the very second that the BBFC announces its verdict. But thus far they've waved the Indicator Rollin releases through intact (including a genuinely startling decision on one of the extras for 'The Night of the Hunted' that we certainly didn't anticipate), so fingers are tightly crossed."
To which someone asked:
"If it does get cut by the BBFC (hopefully not) will the US release will be uncut?"
And Michael replied:
"My colleagues are currently working on the assumption that it won't be cut, so that's a bridge that they haven't had to cross yet."
