"To forestall the inevitable question about the UK release of this title, I'll confirm here the very second that the BBFC announces its verdict. But thus far they've waved the Indicator Rollin releases through intact (including a genuinely startling decision on one of the extras for 'The Night of the Hunted' that we certainly didn't anticipate), so fingers are tightly crossed."
To which someone asked:
"If it does get cut by the BBFC (hopefully not) will the US release will be uncut?"
And Michael replied:
"My colleagues are currently working on the assumption that it won't be cut, so that's a bridge that they haven't had to cross yet."
If Indicator have made the announcement I'm guessing they have been told by the BBFC that it is ok as there doesn't appear to be any difference between the UK and the US specs, so we'll have to wait and see, or else, Michael might know the outcome?

I'm surprised the thematically themed Mexican releases are not in a boxset? There are literally hundreds of these Mexican wrestling movies so it will be expensive to collect them all as limited editions

Last night I read this sentence to my wife, who is not normally a fan of this kind of fare, and this morning she was still laughing - I may still make a convert out of her!

The mental imagery conjured by this is at the same time repulsive and fascinating. Nothing on screen could possibly be up to our imaginations. And if it were... not sure if I would want to watch it

Colour me intrigued. It may even make a fan of mexican wrestling movies out of me!

P.S. "The Bat Woman" was immediately sold by the title, though.

I have a few Santo dvds always a bit of fun so I'll definitely pick up the Bat Woman.

I'd be mildly surprised if Indicator planned to release "literally hundreds"!

The three in March have specific points of interest - female wrestlers in The Panther Women, possibly the definitive Mexican female superhero in The Batwoman, and the bizarre but fascinating contrast between the conventional family-friendly cut of Santo vs The Riders of Terror and the once-thought-lost softcore sex-film recut Lepers and Sex, which sheds fascinating light on commercial Mexican marketing techniques of the time.

And the next batch of Mexican titles will consist of ones of similar historical/cultural interest, because a major impetus for this project is the ability to dig deep into the historical/cultural context - those 80-page books are an absolute mine of information. (I have a proof of the one for The Batwoman open on my desktop right now.)

There's no outcome yet. As I said, the second Powerhouse hears anything, I'll blitz the interwebtubes with the news, very much including here.

But we're pretty optimistic, given what they've passed already.

(Incidentally, don't read anything sinister into the news that "there's no outcome yet" - it's not been sitting at the BBFC for months and months while they um and ah over it; it was only submitted recently because we had to wait for the availability of a subtitled copy that matched what's going to be on the disc.)

I'm interested to see how this will look as all the previous releases have different colour timing. The Redemption BR had a greeny look which I thought was a bit drab for a Rollin, but perhaps that was correct?

There are three versions being included: theatrical, longer export cut, English-dubbed reworking as Curse of the Living Dead. I can’t confirm running times yet, although I’m pretty sure that that 108-minute length pertains to the export cut.
