He'll be loaded, it won't cost that much for a restoration.
I don't know if Gilliam is 'loaded' (look at Lost in La Mancha to see how reliant he is on other people's money), but he's certainly wealthy without having the sort of money Tarantino will have in his bank accounts.

Using kickstarter makes sense because those who are emotionally invested in the films can put whatever they can afford into the fund so, when they are restored, they can feel that they helped make it possible.

A lot of people have a lot of money.
Mainly because its a very niche market so if he wants it released then yeah why not?

If this set breaks even I'll be thrilled. And, frankly, relieved. Believe me, none of the people who are working on this project are doing it for the money.

Anyway, the Kickstarter campaign has just gone live - including a Gilliam-fronted trailer with clips from the new restorations.

I'm getting payed next week Michael so you'll be certain to get something from me for it. Can't describe how excited I am for this release anymore than I already have. An essential purchase.

Indeed - I'll be donating too.

I've been waiting for decent (and any in some cases!) releases of these films for years.

Although, apart from The Beast, I haven't seen any of his films, as I consider myself a cineaste, I feel I owe it to myself to both contribute to the Kickstarter campaign and buy the collection.

Yes, £60 for a 4 Blu & 7 DVD boxset plus donating towards the restoration of Goto is a pretty fair deal, I'd say.

I've posted a thread with a link to the Kickstarter here too.

I wonder how much the set will cost though....not much less than £60 for 11 discs I should think! So at least I can have a sound mind that even in my slightly skint state I can make a small contribution to a project like this. If I had £150 to get into the booklet I would though!
