The perfect New Years Eve image from Doctor Who (1996) Even if it was a bit controversial back then as the Doctor (Paul McGann) and Grace (Daphne Ashbrook) welcome it in style.

Happy New Year to all contributors and readers of this thread.

Coming soon - Legend of the Sea Devils

Quote:
Legend of the Sea Devils finds the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker), Yaz (Mandip Gill) and Dan (John Bishop) in 19th century China, where a small coastal village is under threat – from both the fearsome pirate queen Madame Ching (Crystal Yu) and a monstrous alien force which she unwittingly unleashes. Will the Doctor, Yaz and Dan emerge from this swashbuckling battle with the Sea Devils to save the planet?

I wish the Sea Devils had been left for RTD’s next series. I wasn’t always a huge fan of his stories, but there’s no doubt he was brilliant at bringing back and upgrading classic era monsters. Wish he’d brought back the Zygons as well.
As for Eve Of The Daleks - sorry, but I thought it was f*cking dreadful.

100% agree it was embarrassing to watch, badly acted terrible dialogue, ridiculous every time you watch it you think well can’t be as bad as last episode, and it somehow manages to be, I gave up around half way mark had enough.

As a Chibnall episode it was good but in the whole Doctor Who universe take away the Daleks and we are talking Fear Her territory. It would have worked better as a 45 min episode as an hour was too long.

I should add that Fear Her although poor is better than 80% of the Chibnall Whitaker era.

Thing is, the initial getting killed and suddenly being revealed as a time loop was a really good idea. If it had been done a couple of times to set up the rest of the story, it would have been great.
But to repeat the same scenario over and over and over and over and over again for the next hour was tedious.
The Dalek dialogue was pretty crap too :
It’s cold isn’t it?
THE DALEKS DO NOT FEEL COLD!
Would you like a sweet?
THE DALEKS DO NOT LIKE SWEETS!
Think I’ll wallpaper the bedroom when I get back.
THE DALEKS DO NOT NEED WALLPAPER!!
Etc
I know this wasn’t actual dialogue, but you get my gist.
And to think, we used to get Christmas specials like The Next Doctor. Seems like a lifetime ago.
