I've paid for Disney+ solely to see this grand new version of Who, so I'm going to watch it now! If it's shit I won't be renewing, but I'm watching and I'm not going to not review it because some people can't take criticism!

BBC4 schedule for November 23rd, 2023

From what I am hearing, the screening of 'An Adventure In Space And Time' has been edited, possibly by as much as 6 minutes, in order to remove any mention of the first 'An Unearthly Child' story!

*IF* it is true, I would imagine it is because of this:

BBC Blocked From Releasing First Doctor Who Episodes After Vicious - And Public - Rights Dispute / Screen Rant

"The BBC has been blocked from releasing the first Doctor Who story by the son of writer Anthony Coburn due to disputes over the show's rights.

The omission of the four episodes comprising An Unearthly Child from the BBC iPlayer's Doctor Who library is a blow to the preservation and accessibility of the show's classic era.

Stef Anthony Coburn claims that the BBC disrespected his father's contributions and took the episode's trademark without permission, leading to a decline in his father's health. He blames the BBC for not allowing viewers to watch the episode..."

I wonder how they will get round it

The recording and broadcasting of 'An Unearthly Child' is a major part of 'Doctor Who' history, and therefore a main plot-point in 'An Adventure In Space And Times'

Release date: February 19

"Originally transmitted from December 1963 to February 1964, The Daleks introduced one of the Doctor’s most formidable and enduring foes.

The story follows the very first crew of the TARDIS as they land in a petrified forest on an alien planet. Determined to explore, the Doctor (William Hartnell) leads his companions into the metal city, where they discover danger at every corner and what will become his deadliest enemy, the mutant Daleks.

The seven original 25 minute episodes have now been colourised and weaved together into a 75 minute blockbuster. With brand new sound and a new score - created by Mark Ayres - The Daleks has been gloriously updated, whilst ensuring the original classic story remains as thrilling as it was when it was first seen back in 1963.

This release also includes the original seven episodes on DVD in black & white, as they were first broadcast plus a 15 minute exclusive featurette and all special features from the previous release."

Presumably the 'special features from the previous release' are the ones from the 'Doctor Who: The Beginning' Daleks DVD: Commentary [Episode 2 – Verity Lambert (Producer), Christopher Barry (Director), Gary Russell (Moderator)] / Commentary [Episode 4 – William Russell (Ian Chesterton), Carole Anne Ford (Susan Foreman), Christopher Barry (Director), Gary Russell (Moderator)] / Commentary [Episode 7 – William Russell (Ian Chesterton), Carole Anne Ford (Susan Foreman), Richard Martin (Director), Gary Russell (Moderator)] / Information Text / Creation Of The Daleks / Photo Gallery
