i am a HUGE Flash Gordon fan, i have the movie, twice on dvd, the awesome Queen soundtrack and a flash gordon t-shirt. Brian Blessed as Prince Vultan cracks me everytime i hear him say "gordons ALIVE!' Mike Hodges did an awesome job updating the original Buster Crabbe serial. when i was younger my fave part was the american football scene in the great hall, Melody anderson was a complete hottie back in 1980. i remember seeing Sam J Jones in another film and was like wow that's flash. that film was Jane and the Lost city. Absolutely love FLASH GORDON...

Has anyone seen that abysmal sci-fi channel redo....it's crap.

i do.....i absolutely love it. it's the curse of being an 80s kid.

i grew watching Flash Gordon, Solar Warriors, SpaceHunter, Explorers, Last star Fighter, any 80s sci-fi for kids i was there....

He was also in 10 as Bo Derek's boyfriend (Dudley Moore rescues him from drowning). He later turned up in the extremely graphic Jungle Heat.

Great cast of future stars in Flash Gordon (the deliciously delectable Suzanne Danielle, future Blue Peter star Peter Duncan, Robbie Coltrane etc). Biggest shock for me was recognizing Jason King himself Peter Wyngarde by his voice.

According to the commentary Kurt Russell auditioned for Flash.

That's the one.

The only other films I remember him in were Stardust and that dire Anthony Newley Quilp film.

I also loved that timothy dalton was in this, he is my fave bond.
