I do feel that some of this final season felt rushed (perhaps understandably) but I don't have any complaints about the final episode, I thought it was superb and for a show that quite often wallowed in a pit of despair, was actually quite optimistic. I probably won't watch it again until the Blu-ray is released, hopefully it holds up on a rewatch. Sent from my Mi MIX 2 using Tapatalk |

I'm inclined to agree with Sarah Hughes who has been writing about the show for the Guardian since the first episode. She ranked The Iron Throne as the seventh best episode, writing: "Ending a long-running show is never easy, but while there were pacing and scripting issues leading up to The Iron Throne, this was the best possible conclusion – a bittersweet, stirring and at times beautiful finale which stayed true to the spirit of the books, ending with the Starks triumphant while making pertinent points about love, duty, family, power and the gap between the stories we want to hear and the brutal reality." I get there were some loose ends and perhaps a little bit of cheese (The Song of Ice and Fire book, for example), but it really did his job as a denouement. Jon Snow never wanted to be king and his heart was probably with the Wildlings, so seeing him reunited with Snow and Thormund was just great. Sansa is going to be a great Queen in the North, taking that part of Westeros back to its rightful independent state, and Arya said she was never going to be a princess in a castle, so having her forging her own path seemed fitting. The end of Dany's storyline made logical sense when Tyrion pointed out to Jon that it was going to be a choice between her and his sisters (who would never bend the knee), and I let out an audible "yes!" when Drogon's grief was directed at the Iron Throne, the cause of so much death and carnage over the years. There is no way that any episode was going to satisfy everyone who watched the show over the years, and my brother didn't particularly care for it (messaging me with one word: 'meh'). In terms of ending a long running and epic (in every sense of the word) TV show, I was very happy with it and struggle to think how it could have been any better.

Just as with the coffee cup, I didn't notice the bottle. Did anyone?

I pretty much agree with that Nos, I enjoyed what happened for the most part, I was pleased with Ayra's concluding story and happy for Sansa. Not great in terms of cringe 'light-hearted' bits like Edmure presenting himself for King and Sam suggesting democracy and the various chuckles. Don't get me started on Bran either... but overall, I appreciated it.
