Love The Neighbour: Season 8

The Local By-Election
Eddie campaigns for Labour and is shocked to find his candidate is black, Bill makes fun of Eddie that the guy knocking on doors is black, when the results are in everyone is gathered Bill's only to find out the candidate is white, did Bill stitch up Eddie again?

Eddie Becomes a Father Again
Joan joins the shopping club which Barbie thinks she has joined the pregnancy club which Bill tells Eddie who starts to panic at being a father again.

Christmas Spirit
Eddie, Arthur and Jacko decide who should be Dart captain, Bill opts to put his name down which results in a drinking contest between Eddie and Bill.

For Sale
Eddie wants to put the house on sale and has potential buyers until they realise there is a black couple living next door. Eddie gives Bill football tickets in order to get him away from the house. Bill realises what is going on and places a ad for Eddie's house but at a different price.

Power Cut
Bill and Barbie's power has been cut off and stay with Joan and Eddie which causes problems, when their power is restored and Eddie hurling insults, their power is cut and end up staying with Bill and Barbie.

The Lodger
Albert who claims to be homeless does odd jobs for Nobby, Eddie decides he should stay with them forcing Bill and eddie to bet if they can put up with each other for one night, but what exactly is Albert hiding.

A end of a era for The Boothe's and Reynolds, I know my comments on this have been questionable and by no means I am not a racist, but some of the insults I haven't heard in a long time and the way they are said are quite funny even Bill being referred to as King Kong. How did this manage to last eight seasons was this a natural way to speak to people back in the 70s? Even in this season with the insults you can tell Bill and Eddie have respect for each other. Again my apologies and thanks for putting up with these posts on the show.

Pilot Episode. The Scarface Mob.

Based on Elliot Ness book the untouchables, this follows him and his teams efforts to bring town Al Capone. It's similar but different in some ways too the movie, it's less violent and we don't have unhinged hitman there is no Irish beat cop with a Scottish accent , but we do have a ex-con whom is part of the team and is quite similar too the Connery character and is only member of the team that dies. Both different as I said but both this and the film are equally enjoyable.

We have shootouts, bad men and dirty women . Having not read the book it would be interesting too know which is closer to it.

ER. Pilot

We follow the lives of the doctors and nurses of county general hospital , which good guy Mark Greene, womanizing and shallow Doug Ross who has a hart of gold, arrogant surgeon Peter Benton, nurse Carol Hathaway and fresh faces newbie John Carter.

Has aged well and was a program ahead of its time the has a effect on shows that have followed.
The show that shot George Clooney too super stardom.

NYPD Blue season one.
Just like ER which aired a year later, this is another show that was ahead of its time and influenced later shows.

Here we follow the officers of the 15th precinct which include John Kelly, alcoholic Andy Sipowicz and Captian Fancy as they solve case and get involved in there lives. It deals with many disturbing events but the most disturbing is seeing Sipowicz fat ass!

This Is England 86.

Episode One.
Combo is out of prison after his attack on Milky, Lol and Woody decide to tie the knot that does not go well when he gets cold feet and Meggy suffers a heart attack in the register's toilet. Shaun sitting his exams realises his childhood is over, in a stunt to pull a girl by a bully and is hit over the head he too lands up in hospital and spotted by Smell.

Episode Two.
After Smell tells the gang she seen Shaun, the group steal golf carts and head to serenade him at 4am waking up the street ask him to come back to the fold. Shaun is given a job by Mr Sandhu at his video shop but is shocked when he gets home to find his mum and Mr Sandhu in bed together and runs away. Woody has found a place for him and Lol only thing is a drug user past away and Smell revealing where the user was doing the toilet. Lol goes home and finds out her dad Mick has returned, with everything going on she runs to see Milky only for the two to spend the afternoon together in bed. Gadge spends the night with a older woman and is shocked to see her son looks like Meggy.

Episode Three
On the anniversary of Shaun's father's birthday, Smell persuades Shaun to return home and end up making out on the sofa only for Cynthia to walk in on them. Woody and Lol living together, Woody thinks they are drifting apart and asks Milky to be a go between them both unaware what is happening. Harvey gives Gadge some advice about his new lady and her sexual appetite and who she has been with. Lol's sister Kelly friend called Trev stops by and is attacked by Mick, Combo who has been beaten up turns up at Shaun's house.

Episode Four
Combo tells Shaun he has returned due to his mother dying, knowing how it feels to loose a parent Shaun decides to help Combo. Trev goes to see Lol and tells her what Mick had done which she confronts Mick that does not end well and is helped by a unlikely person. Woody is planning a surprise wedding with everyone involved but is unaware what is happening.

Even though the film was focused on Shaun, the series looks at the lives of those who were around him 3-4 years later, what makes it stand out the original cast from the film return to the same parts that can bring some drama as some comedy even though the rape scene that happened was a bit tough to watch.

This Is England 88.

December 23rd
Lol is bringing up a baby fathered by Milky her own in a furnished flat and is still haunted by visions of Mick. Woody is back living with his parents and new girlfriend Jen, still working in the factory he has been offered promotion and has distanced himself from the group. Shaun is in a relationship with Smell and has enrolled in a college drama class and he may be falling for a girl in his class, Cynthia and Sandhu have carried on their relationship.

Christmas Eve
Lol feeling depressed opens up to a nurse about her troubled past involving Mick and visits Combo in prison to thank him for what he done, with seeing visions of Mick she contemplates suicide. Woody and Jen go for a meal with his boss and still has to make a decision about the promotion, when they are walking home they bump in to the gang and Milky that does not go well. Shaun does his stage show with everyone and the end of the night at a party it does not end well.

Christmas Day
Lol is in hospital which Trev runs to get Woody who races to the hospital to be with her, Lol opens up to Woody as to what really happened to Mick and how Combo took the blame for her, will they decide to rekindle their relationship? Shaun opens up to his mum about what happened and Smell has ended the relationship and both celebrating Christmas sepreratly

This season was a bit more drama than comedy, it does have it's laughing moments but not as much as the first season, it does play on a lot that may be post natal depression and guilt feeling, it also show some good acting between Stephen Graham and Vicky McClure. It's never really explained why Milky left and then came back but does show some really bad karaoke singing especially from Trude.

This is England 90.

Spring
Lol and Woody are back together bringing up two children, Shaun has signed up for a photography class at the university which he is rejected. Lol's sister Kelly is slowly sliding down a spiral, Harvey and Gadge are now flat sharing, with the 90s comes the partying and the drugs. Woody gets a shock when his parents announce his ex Jen will be staying with them as a lodger and he is offered a job by his old factory manager.

Summer
Upset at being rejected for a place at uni, Shaun, Kelly, Gadge, Harvey try to attend at open rave and come across a New Age Travelers camp and decide to party with them. Lol and Woody host a barbecue lunch, Lol receives a call from her mother and confesses it was Combo.

Autumn
Lol and Woody host a dinner with Milky, Kelly, Trev, Shaun and Lol and Kelly's mother and reveal what happened the day Mick died which doesn't go well and announces Combo is coming to live with them which doesn't go well with Milky. After a day out with Cynthia, Shaun receives a letter from the University that may have some good news. Kelly decides she doesn't want to stay at home and goes to Gadge and Harvey's place to stay.

Winter
Lol and Woody decide to plan their wedding again with a help of their parents and Jen that does not go well and causes arguments between them. Shaun starts his placement and University and seems attracted to classmate Juliette. Harvey makes a discovery about Kelly and throws her out much to Gadge's dismay. Combo starts a new job with a community centre and meets Milky to talk about the past.

Throughout these episodes they have been enjoyable and watching the lives of the characters change and try to live their lives. This one has some more laughter and seeing Flip and Higgy looking like Simon and Trevor...christ i'm old remembering them two names from the 90s, Flip still bearing a grudge from the very first episode.

The dinner scene from Autumn shows the good acting that was put into it and some of it improvised and even watching it you can feel the emotion of everyone and heartbreaking they made it be realistic. These episodes are highly recommended.
