Just got back from Star Trek. Bloody brilliant, just sheer entertainment from start to finish.

Sorry to dampen the mood but I found Star Trek rather dull. From the silly "Indy Jones" start, through the rather wooden acting/script after John Harrison attacks star fleet, the frankly ridiculous Simon Peg Scottish accent, the reliance on other parts of the franchise for plot (there comes a point when its no longer a homage or resonance), the Deus ex machina intervention. I could go on. Not in the same league as the first part of the reboot. Hopefully Abrams will now be too busy to take a major part in the third entry. BUT still worth a watch. Cumberbatch is by far the strongest element in the film.

"Razor Blade Smile" is a lot of fun, it's British, cheap, sexy, bloody and goofy. Eileen Daly, once the face (and bust) of Redemption Films, postures and splashes it abaht a bit. 6/10 for goofy vamps and rubber.

Flesh Eater (aka Zombie Nosh) is a late '80s "Night of the Living Dead" lite with tits. What a rip off! -3/10 for originality, 5/10 for tits, overall 2/10 (the overall was the best actor, I think)!

I wouldent call it dull as such. Theres something happening all the time and it dosent let you pause for breath (or spot minor plot inconsistencies) its certainly the best thing star trek related since next generation, as every series since that has been very poor quality, and certainly every film past the fourth (with the exception of first contact) has been pretty rubbish as well. For all its faults I really think the new star trek films are the shot in the arm the series needs. That said I can't disagree with some of your other criticisms.

From 1936:
Tarzan Escapes Formulaic
The Devil-Doll I remember this from BBC2's Saturday (?) night double bills, when they used to preview the following weeks movies I always gave a sigh of disappointment when they showed this and not any of the classic Universal films!
Riffraff not too bad but not great either!

Re watched DREDD. Still think its a fantastic film but is it me or does the blu-ray look a little....'off'

Only cost me £3.50 but i'm actually glad I didn't rush out and buy this release. Could have used some better extras than the 3 minute 'featturettes' as well. A ful documentary on 2000ad might have been nice!

Or maybe i'm just spoiled?
