It wouldn't really be too difficult for Sony to give us both versions - after all both versions have been seen and passed by the BBFC for Anchor Bay UK, so they won't need to stump up the extra money for the BBFC to look at them.

I was referring to the new TED release, not ED2. I am going by the Axel Music website that's normally very reliable.

In the coming features section of Sony Pictures UK there is a page for their Evil Dead blu-ray. No mention of a full frame version included.

It's possible Sony might be doing a 16 x 9 version only under the misguided notion that, if there's a widescreen version, people won't want to watch a 4:3 version on their new HDTV's. Not saying that's a definite but it's possible. I would have thought someone there would know and understand it's history enough to realise the importance of the 4:3 version.

Optimum's UK release mate.

It's got the commentaries and a doc.

THE EVIL DEAD
Looks like it's the Anchor Bay version for me.

Although Axel Music says Region A, it says underneath that it will most likely be region free. Most of AB's catalogue titles are region free. Evil Dead II was, even though it was released by a different company (Optimum) in the UK. I'm sure we'll find out nearer the release date.

I have the ABUS TED2 BR and it has an additional featurette over Optimum's release. Although i believe the latter edition may have superior audio quality.
