Easily prefer this remake to the original, even if Jackie wasn't in it it's just a better film in general. Having Jackie was just a super bonus.

"Thirty percent fists, seventy legs!"

The lethal Hwang Jang Lee does indeed make a formidable foe for Chan in the above two kung fu classics. One of the great screen leg fighters and Lee allegedly killed a guy for real with one roundhouse kick to the head many years ago.

Actually, it was a tooth cap that Chan lost due to Lee's unofficial Taekwondo trickery in SITES. It's also been reported that Lee supposedly put Chan in hospital while shooting the action in DM but i'm unsure as to how this occurred.

I actually quite enjoy this film and TBB is worth watching for some of the martial art moves that Chan performs that he doesn't do in his own outings. The late Mako's dirty old man of a kung fu master also merits a mention too.

Question

I recently found Gorgeous on Ebay.
This version was the extra long version of 119 min. reliesed by Universe Laser.

What's the difference between int cut and this asian cut?
I've seen the 95 min version before and I was kinda disapointed about the asian cut not having any extra action included?
There were only 3 fights in the entire movie.
It's a good movie but 3 fights come on!

Next question is about the new reliese of JC's Protector.
Fortune Star reliesed this movie on dvd a few months ago.
I have the Universe Laser edition in LTB format.
What aspect ratio is the Forune star reliese?
Is this version the exact same cut as Universe dvd?
Is F-S reliese a remastered version?
Universe edition was not in so good quality IIRC?

The HK version of Gorgeous includes a lot more local humour. You get more of the "gay" friend humour from Tony Leung. It's not really an action film anyway. It was an attempt to put Jackie into a credible romance.

The new release of The Protector is the same as the US cut. Exactly the same as the one HKL put out which is a crying shame. I'd love to see the version that Jackie did extra fights for getting a DVD release.

There's plenty of sellers on US ebay that have both Fortune star dvd and the Universe laser dvd the real JC version.
Seller is asking $49 for it but there is a price proposal for you to give the seller.

Another seller on ebay says Fortune star dvd is the real uncut JC version?
WTF?
I have UL version
I also have the HKL version.
I guess I don't need the FS version?
Is it the same anamorphic version as the US R1?
I'm not sure about the aspect ratio on the new one.

I have the Universe release on VCD - but it doesn't have any subtitles.
