I've been a fan of both Poe and Lovecraft since I was about 12, both fine storytellers

Tough one, off the top of my head I'll go with The Pit & The Pendulum for Poe and either Herbert West-Reanimator or The Dunwich Horror for Lovecraft, those are the ones I've read the most I'd say

Ooh very interesting. I look forward to reading those then, Rik. Think I'll work my way through this humongous book in order, so I have 15 stories of his to read before I get to The Pit and The Pendulum. Looking forward to it!

If you're after a superb Lovecraft book then this one comes highly recommended, and it's fairly cheap at the minute too, an excellent collection

Necronomicon: The Best Weird Tales of H.P. Lovecraft: The Best Weird Fiction of H.P. Lovecraft GOLLANCZ S.F.: Amazon.co.uk: H.P. Lovecraft: Books

Currently reading entries from this excellent book. October Dreams.

A massive tome packed full of short stories, anecdotes and writings about Halloween by the worlds greatest horror authors.

I dig it out every year towards the end of the month, its a brilliant read.
