I have a feeling that if I spent the rest of my life studying the Qabalah I'd only scratch the surface. I've come to it rather late in my occult career, previously avoiding it purely because it is the backbone of the Western Mystery Tradition and occult wisdom dictates you should study it. I've never really been a follower so I went on a rather strange magical journey of Lovecraftian horrors and Indo-European folklore rather than be the norm. Now, older and perhaps a little wiser and after a long period of not practising magick, I thought I'd give it a go and go against the grain of my own prejudices. Anyhow it was my birthday yesterday and I got these. |

The Dark Worlds Of H.P. Lovecraft
As I said before apparently society frowns upon someone reading a book, smoking a fag and drinking coffee while driving up the wrong side of the hard shoulder of the M5,while texting, its polictical correctness gone madd I tells ya,so shunning the written page as I traveresd spag jnc and the heady sites of North Wales,I listened to some more audio books. First of was Christopher Eccleston reading of four short stories that were broacasted on the radio back in Dec 2007 for Radio 2.I enjoyed his reading of these stories, and Its a shame they only did four episodes,a nice companion piece to Chris Lee's Fireside Tales. Next up was Wayne June reading H P lovecraft,I only managed 4 1/2 stories as I found listening to alot of Lovecraft while driving was slightly weird experience. But I have to say Wayne June's delivery was excellent,it was a straight re-telling no sound effects or music, but his deep dark voice was enough to convey all the goods.Ive still got hours of HP Lovecraft left to hear and would probably need to drive around the whole country several times over to finish it. Speaking of James Herbert anyone here read The Fog? I'm currently about half way through and loving it. The other book that I've read by him was Creed. Love the weird demon sex part. He should write full erotic stories. |

When I was at school in the early 80s everyone was into James Herbert. If you placed one of his books on it's spine on a table or your hand, more often than not the books would open to the sex scenes!
