I didn't think Zack Snyder captured the tone very well and, though the film is very well scripted and visually stylish, something felt lacking as an adaptation of one of the greatest graphic novels ever written.

There's no 2nd movie as such - DC comics have recently announced a 7 comics prequel series which is probably what you've seen. That's not to say there won't be a prequel movie of course, but t's only the comics which have been announced. Which, for the record, I think is heresy. Awful idea.

Ah, I disagree with this. I thought it captured the tone well, aside from the obligatory Snyder slo-mo scenes. Some parts I disliked , like the scene where Nite-Owl and Silk Spectre fight the criminals in the alley in the most ridiculous bone-crushing, cgi-blood spurting, gritty way but overall I thought Snyder did a fantastic job. I'm a huge fan of the graphic novel and was worried the film would be awful but I thought it worked incredibly well. Didn't even mind the changing of the ending.

I liked the first film too, but there's just no need to revisit it.

And why do they need a prequel? It's just going to be a bullshit superteam shitbag story arc written all for the money. There is no need whatsoever to do it, because anything that needed to be said about their past was explained perfectly well in the original book (both in the comic frames and in the text sections).

I take it that Alan Moore has distanced himself from the project?

Yeah, he's got nothing to do with it. They've actually got some good writers and artists on board (Darwyn Cooke, Brian Azzarello, Len Wein!) but they've also got one of the Kubert brothers who I can't stand. Eitherway, it's a rotten idea as the history of all the characters is told perfectly in the original graphic novel, as you said. It's 7 seperate 4 to 6 issue comics all telling an interlocking story with different writers so I don't really see whose vision or story this actually is. Seems poorly planned, as in "We can't get Alan Moore to do it so let's just chuck everyone into the project and see what happens,"

I do admit that the Rorshach cover is pretty damn nice though.

Even tho i love everything he writes his short stories just seem too rush at the end. Everything is nicely paced then BAM too much happens too fast and its over leaving me wanting more.
