It resulted in the death of the horse and the American Humane Association's move into animal protection during filmmaking. According to Errol Flynn 25 horses were killed during the climax of the original Charge Of The Light Brigade (some sites say 200). A horse stuntman was also killed when he fell on his sword. |

Yes there are a number of films that have been cut in recent years for this reason.

It wasn't mentioned by the BBFC in their cuts reply to me either. They said they'd waived the previous cut to the dogs fighting but retained the cut to the shot of the impaled lizard.

I got the same reply from the BBFC several years ago, when their site stated that 1 previous cut had been waived. They told me which cut had been waived and which cut had been retained. No mention of the minah-bird impalement. I haven't seen this film for years so can't even remember that scene.

Ireland made the surprising decision to pass Cannibal Holocaust uncut in 2006, they clearly aren't bound by any cruelty laws but usually in controversial cases simply pass the BBFC cut version. It was also passed uncut in Australia in more recent years...this country having cut cruelty in the past. The OFLC also passed Ferox uncut as well. |

On the other hand, the MPAA are under no legal obligation to cut scenes of animal cruelty for any rating.

I really hate the use of tripwires in films so i agree with the bbfc on that one.
