I met Seagal and Katherine Heigl at the world premier of Under Siege 2 in Hollywood.

For this reason alone i have to defend him.

I also own 33 of his films. (that, i'm not sure i can defend)

That would be my top 5 favourite Brit Gangster/Crime films.

With last month being the 40th anniversary of Get Carter I was hoping that a 40th anniversay edition DVD would have been released but unfortunately it didnt happen. There was however in Newcastle last month a question and answer session with both the director and writer of the film, a special screening of the film at Tyneside Cinema, and a bus tour which visited the film's locations.
Yeah a Blu Ray of Caine's finest hour is overdue Gaz.

I'm surprised not to see "Rise of the Footsoldier in the poll.
I really enjoyed this film, pretty brutal, and real gritty.
For those that have not seen it,its based on a true story around Charlton Leach
a well known football hooligan and his rise into the gangland's around London and Essex. And eventually the Rettendon Murders. As listed "Essex boys" is another film about the same murders.
If not you've not seen this film, check it out, i'm sure you will like?

Actually i think i might pick it up on BD this weekend?

Although I like alot of the films listed, I went for 'Get Carter'. If anyone else voted the same (or didn't, but like it) and would like to know more about both the writing of the novel and the creation of the movie, I really recommend getting hold of the excellent 'Hardboiled Hollywood: The Origins of the Greats Crime Films' by Max Décharné (2005). I bought if a few weeks ago and it's great.

The League of Gentlemen is a top notch British crime thriller from 1960.

I would have voted for that had it been listed.

With Arrow's recent release of THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY,it's maybe time that this thread was ressurrected.

I see from the poll, which is quite dated now that GET CARTER remains the fave.

What do the more recent members of CL reckon?

GET CARTER or THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY?
