Nice choices there.Villain is terrific with Burton giving one of his best performances. The Long Good Friday & Get Carter are both classics too.But where's SITTING TARGET with Oliver Reed & Ian McShane on top form ?.

Oliver reed and Ian McShane in a film together! sounds interesting. Mind you, McShane will never be able to top his hilarious performance as Al Swearingen in Deadwood imo, he deserved some sort of oscar or knighthood for that. Confirms my theory that all actors get better with age

(well, steven seagal is the exception that proves the rule - he's never been any good and he gets worse with each passing second - which incidentally is the rate he churns out out his DTV crap).

Lol...thats not to say I don't find his films a guilty pleasure

Haha wait 'til you see Sweeney 1, Pedro. Jack Regan tries to drive his car while he's off his face (not his doing, for once) and gets suspended, then the shit hits the fan!

I'll be whistling that theme tune all day now doh!

I watched London Boulevard recently.
Ray Winstone as a psychotic gangster?

He could play that role sleepwalking!

Wasn't bad though-I've seen a lot worse!

I don't understand when Brit classics such as THE SQUEEZE lie in Warner limbo.

It's not as if it doesn't have a well known cast or director.....

1) Get Carter
2) Night and the City
3) The Long Good Friday
4) The Krays
5) Gangster No.1

That would be my top 5 favourite Brit Gangster/Crime films.

With last month being the 40th anniversary of Get Carter I was hoping that a 40th anniversay edition DVD would have been released but unfortunately it didnt happen. There was however in Newcastle last month a question and answer session with both the director and writer of the film, a special screening of the film at Tyneside Cinema, and a bus tour which visited the film's locations.
