We all have or tastes and agree and disagree on things , but got to admit Blair witch was extremely pants . can't say for new Leatherface film haven't seen it , and in no rush to either
I'm getting bored with films that are just cashing in on films without any real thought or depth into the film.
I'm as bored of them as I am with all the superhero crap.

Picked this R1 DVD from charity shop for £1, the dvd itself was in such bad nick the old lady had to be reassured by me that I could clean it up... it also reeked of stale ciggie smoke... but Bronson's worth it.

Thought I'd take a punt on this, trailer was good, got generally very good reviews and it certainly looks and sounds like my cup of tea, so...

Discovered that the new US blu-ray of Dario Argento's Opera is region b friendly so I ordered it from wow hd.

11.46 pounds is a good price for a brand new title being shipped over to the UK. I know that there has been some criticism of the image sometimes shaking a bit but I'm hoping that won't affect my enjoyment too much.

This latest version looks far superior to the Japanese and German blu-rays which I've previously bought. There's significantly more picture information (which does look correct), better detail, improved colours and no hiss (yay!) on the English soundtrack.

It may have been smarter to await and compare to the forthcoming Shameless UK release but this is one of my favourite Argento films so I ordered it anyway. Am really looking forward to seeing this new disc. :)

btw Not too fussed about missing out on the later US 'deluxe edition' as I strongly prefer using the post-Cannes English soundtrack.

Had an email from HMV earlier about my Cat o Nine Tails set, saying they’re having trouble getting the stock from the suppliers, which is why it’s still not been sent out yet!

Anyone had theirs from HMV yet?

“Dear hmv Customer,

We’re getting in touch regarding your recent pre-order with store.hmv.com:

Due to manufacturing issues, there has unfortunately been a delay in receiving the above item and we have not yet been able to fulfil your order. However, we have been assured by the suppliers that stock is due to arrive with us next week and as soon as this reaches us, we will process and dispatch your order immediately, sending you a further email once this has been completed.

On behalf of hmv and our suppliers, apologies for any disappointment caused by the delay. We will do our utmost to get this to you as soon as possible.

I actually cancelled my order last week, £25 is too much for a single film and a book I'm never going to read...

It is bloody expensive. I'm really surprised that the Cat 'O Nine Tails blu-ray price didn't significantly drop. For many folks, it's not even one of their favourite Argento films. If I had the patience, it would have been wiser to hold out for a 'regular edition' release.

Am currently waiting for Amazon to deliver my copy. Is supposed to be arriving today. 4.50 pm and it's still not here. We won't be able to watch until Thursday but I would like to hold it in my hands. :)

Doesn't he seem to think that the film is too influenced by American cinema? As I'm sure that everyone knows, Cat 'O Nine Tails has an actual car chase sequence. Quite unusual for Argento! Personally I really like it, a character like Gigi the loser is highly entertaining. :)

He does, to be honest I'm not really a fan of it.

I'm the odd one out. I really like Cat but find myself seriously dumbfounded when folks wax lyrical about Phenomena. :) (Phenomena is easily my least favourite 'golden age' Argento). Interestingly my wife has exactly the same feelings so it's probably just as well that I married her.

Rik 30th January 2018 04:25 PM

I’ll be honest and say that I’m only really buying it to go along with the other Arrow Argento LE sets, it’s not one of his best films but this a rare occasion when I’m buying for completions sake as I already have the older release

That's why I had it on order but then I decided I don't want/need it and I'm just going to wait a while and get it for £6 in Fopp for a regular edition... eventually.

I do quite like Cat... as well but it is the lesser of all of the early (pre- Opera) films I think, although Four Flies is pretty close.

Just a random Q? About completion sake ,
This is can be towards anyone not directly to you .

If you like a director and buy all his films ,
But they appear in say two films and a producer of 5 films .
Do you still buy the films they were producer and starred in or only directed ?

Eg I like Quentin Tarantino but not keen on his later films , but I do have them , but 'm not that bothered about films he appeared in, or producer behind , but got the one's he wrote like True romance .

I use to be like that with Argento, Lenzi and Fulci movies due to the fact they would have blood, guts and plenty gore, Mostly with Argento as his films had a twist in the end as to who the murder was, like Trauma, Phenomena, Opeta and Tenebre. I saw The Church nearly 20 years ago.and started looking for Michele Soavi movies.

In the 90s VHS era i started collecting Vipcco movies then collecting dvds then started doing the same with Shameless, now i am getting dvds on a blind buy regardless the director or star.

Just some directors etc I want a completion, but I'm like you I do a fair amount of blind buys.

The thing I don’t get is people buying every release by certain companies, even if they don’t like the films and will never watch them

I used to but no longer. Same with spine numbers. It was surprisingly hard to do. Only one I've continued to buy regularly is Mondo Macarbo. It used to be easy with two incomes and I used to impulse buy a lot. I've been toning it down recently however. I've stopped buying code red stuff entirely.

Finally received my Arrow Cat O' Nine Tails. I may have grumbled about the price but I have to say that it is a beautiful set. A really nice thing to own.

A couple of buys from ebay over the weekend. Sex & Fury was an impulse buy after reading an article on pinky violence and it has me curious, as well as a scantily clad female raising hell whilst extracting revenge sounds awesome to me. As for 'Henry' the wife enjoys watching murder documentaries and i asked if she has seen this, when i described it she basically said 'shut up and take my money' so that's how we ended up with this one.
