If its there when I'm next in I'll pick it up. I often blind buy but it's usually stuff I know a little about. Quo Vadis I haven't a clue.

All from the HMV sale. There’s one more of the Italian collection coming soon - Violent City is currently out of stock.

Attachment 247218

I was having a look at my 88 Italian Collection and realise that I only have 41 out of the current 81 titles. Can’t see me filling that massive ‘gap’ anytime soon!

What are the best Italian Collection titles that I’m missing? (A wee star indicates that I have it)

Picked these up

Got these printed out.

I did order a nice one of Claude Raynes as the Invisible Man but unfortunately I was informed that it wouldn't turn out well.

Just having a quick look, I would go with MACABRE ( it’s a superb print) and ZEDER ( great film! ).

I have the Arrow DVD of Macabre. Probs why I skipped over the blu. Great movie though [emoji106]

I'm not really one for the Poliziwotnot films and such.

7 deaths in a cat's eye is worth a watch, pretty sure Dem rates it.

Alien 2 has a few nice gore shots but it's not that good, i sold my copy.
Delirium i enjoyed but to be honest it's just naff 80's italian schlock, same applies to Paganini horror and Zombie 3.

Eyeball is an enjoyable slasher/ giallo.

Long hair of death is a classic Italian gothic film with Barbara Steele so is definitely recommended if you like that sort of thing.

Beatrice Cenci is a historical film by Fulci that has some torture stuff and plays a bit like a witchfinder film at times, it's low key but really good if you are in the mood.

Zeder is really good but slow and atmospheric, if you know "The house with laughing windows" by Avati then you get the drift.

"whip and the body" I couldn't get on with, but if you like Bava it might be worth a punt.

Pretty sure you must have seen "House on the edge of the park" and "C.Holocaust" if not then pull yer finger out...

16. Mad Dog Killer
17. The Cynic, the Rat & the Thief
19. Seven Deaths in the Cat's Eye
45. Eyeball
48. A Black Veil for Lisa
55. Beatrice Cenci
56. Paranoia
58. Macabre
70. Zeder
71. Violent City
72. Hitcher in the Dark

I own 75-81 but haven't watched them yet. I've seen House on the Edge of the Park, Cannibal Holocaust, and The Whip and the Body, and would recommend those as well.

When you do your Predator review say what the image is like as more than one release of Predator should have been called the Wax Edition. I'd love it on Blu but have no faith the one i chose would be the correct one. Stick with dvd for the time being.

Two good finds otherwise.

J Harker 27th July 2023 08:07 PM

I have Predator on blu. I can't remember which one now though I suspect it's the Ultimate Hunter Edition. I don't find the picture to be as bad as many suggest personally, but I do acknowledge the waxwork comments levelled at it. It's a difficult one for me because I don't like an overly grainy image either.

Lights Out is a decent chiller and best watched in the dark.

A blu-ray of Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves arrived. This film is huge fun, would highly recommend it. Despite ultra positive reviews, it fared poorly at the box office which is a great shame.

The problem with sales, is when they arrive all at the same time  thank god the VS sale summer was not dispatched yet.

Just a special mention to Mutant Blast, I still remember to see his short movies in horror festival years ago (like almost 11 or so), so happy to see him have a chance with Troma.

I only seen it once and I thought it was good but I expected more there was so much hype about it.

Really like this. Val Kilmer as John Holmes. Hope you like it as well if you haven't seen it previously.

This week's new arrivals.

The first four were picked up from HMV for me by Nosferatu@Cult Labs whilst Dawn of the Dead dropped through my letterbox very unexpectedly from Justin 101 when he saw my comment earlier that i hadn't seen Snyder's film for years.

I wanted to post these just to show what a fantastic little community with very kind and thoughtful members we have here on Cult Labs. :thankingyou: :ilovecultlabs:

It's one of the (many) films that should *never* have been classed as a nasty or offensive in any way
